Every Chinese restaurant is open on Christmas Day, right?
Wrong! HuffPost Detroit recently proved the myth to be about as accurate as your average fortune cookie. The majority of establishments in metro Detroit we contacted told us they will, in fact, be closed for the holiday.
But if you are jonesing for General Tso, there are some Chinese eateries in Detroit, and the suburbs, where you can get practice with chopsticks over the Christmas holiday.

Canton (via Canton Patch):

Chin Express is open from 3-8 p.m. Christmas Day. They offer classic Chinese fare, from fried rice to egg rolls, General Tso's Chicken to vegetarian options.
Chopstick House - 3500 N. Lilley Road, Canton (734) 983-9288
The Chopstick House is open noon-10 p.m. Christmas Day. Stop in for Peking Duck, beef with broccoli, vegetarian and light options, and plenty more.
Northville (via Northville Patch):
New Wing Hing - 43171 Seven Mile Road (248) 348-8411
New Wing Hing will be open from noon to 9:30 p.m. So if the Christmas ham bombs, or you want none of the fuss, how about Szechuan, Cantonese or Mandarin cuisine?
Novi (via Novi Patch):

Dragontown will be open from 2-9 p.m. on Christmas Day. Perfect if your 25th needs Hunan flair or a side of wonton soup.
Kim's Garden - 26150 Novi Road, Novi (248) 348-0700
Enjoy Dim Sum or Chinese seafood specials (and more) at Kim's Garden, open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Christmas Day. The restaurant is also advertising holiday party specials on its website, a great way to avoid all the prep and panic that can precede Christmas dinner.
Plymouth (via Plymouth Patch):
Red Dragon Chinese Restaurant - 44515 Ann Arbor Road West. (734) 354-7575
Red Dragon Restaurant will be open from noon-10 p.m. Christmas Day. Drop in for all the classics, from egg rolls to egg drop soup, sesame chicken to sweet & sour pork.
West Bloomfield (via West Bloomfield Patch):
China King - This authentic Chinese restaurant will be open for dine-in or carry-out from 12:30-9 p.m.
The Shangri La Chinese Restaurant - This Chinese restaurant features both tradtional Chinese cuisine, plus American options. The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m.-2 a.m.
Golden Phoenix - Offering authentic Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine, the restaurant will be open at 3 p.m. until approximately 9 p.m. (Call if you are heading out after 8 p.m.)
