'X Factor' Winner Melanie Amaro: Song Performances (VIDEOS)

When Melanie Amaro was named the winner of "The X-Factor," Simon Cowell said, "We came here to find a superstar and we found a superstar."

Given that Cowell's previous prognostications have a mixed track record -- for every Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson, there is a Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard -- whether Amaro ends up being a true superstar in the longterm remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure: the British Virgin Islands-born college student sure put on a show this fall.

I called the final 2 from day one of the live performances. Melanie is another amazing diva with an extradinary voice. However, Josh has a voice and a persona not seen since the likes of Jethro Tull. We need more unique voices like his to continue the tradition of true rock and roll.

She did have an explosive performance in the final and Josh'es was just ok, though he's a better artist but you have to give it to her. She is a truely amazing singer.

I taped the show and did a lot of fast forwarding. I loved Josh. I think he is exceptionally talented and he sings music that i enjoy. Melanie has a beautiful voice but I am not sure it is anything beyond that. Chris is not my cuppa but he will do well if he gets a contract. All in all, I see little difference between American Idol and X Factor, can't stand Paula and was bored to tears for much of the season but Josh was my pick all the way. I hope he can turn this into success. It is a tough business.

I don't know if this show was contrived as some seem to think, but this young woman has a beautiful controlled voice. I think that she will be successful and I wish her the very best! Of course "X Factor" is not as good a show as "The Voice".

Melanie has a good enough voice. Now if she can quite yelling and screaming through every song and learn some nuance, shading, and real emotional connection with her material, she might even turn into a good singer. I am so tired of divas who over-sing (thank you Whitney and Mariah) and try to turn every song into a power ballad whether it was meant to be one or not. As far as the show is concerned, its corny.

I think you are right---partly. There are recordings by them that I have liked, but overall, I think they over sing and sometimes sound like screeching cats. But, hey, to each his own. I didn't say they shouldn't sing or that you shouldn't like them. Everyone's taste is different. I just said that they aren't my choice for pleasant listening. I just don't think that every song must be sung at full volume. They should showpiece a good song once in awhile, not just their voice.

Simon is a very vicious business man. He will do anything to be on top. LA Reid should have never put his respect on the line to work with Simon. LA Reid should not work with Simon anymore. The end process of the show seemed to be very suspicious to me. He did it before on American Idol….he did it again on X-Factor.

Plenty of people watched. I just hope it translates into fans and records sells for her - that's the true test. The music business is about money - not who sounds good.
