Posted: 12/25/2011 2:48 pm

The Texas Tribune:

Aside from President Obama, Perry -- the only sitting governor in the 2012 race -- has the largest security contingent, and apparently the only one on the Republican side financed by taxpayers.

READ THE STORY.....

Stuff like this:

"His state-provided security guards were flying pretty high, too, spending more than $32,000 in taxpayer money for travel and lodging in San Francisco, $4,400 to dine near the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum in Simi Valley, and another $6,400 for plane tickets to San Diego, records show.
In the ensuing weeks, Perry would see  Read More...

For all of you wondering how Texans could like this guy, let it be noted that Texas Monthly has awarded Rick Perry its "Bum Steer of the Year" award.

'Perry told the 75 or so gathered at Smokey Row in Pella that all tax credits for energy development would be thrown out of his federal tax plan, but that he would encourage states to choose tax incentives for specific energy sectors most important to their populace.' So forget the United States of America..........

Hey slick Rick you are going to need those guards once your cronies learn your are going eliminate all of their tax breaks. Guess Koch, Oil and Gas, and the poultry twins aren't going to be soo happy. Oh wait you can make up for it............

Oh that is right the Kochs are going to love you since you are going to open up Federal Lands for energy development. Yes let's just make sure the entire country has as bad a problem with air pollution as Texas,

Perry's cost to tax payers pales into insignificance in comparison to the Billions we pi$$ away on Obama's campaigning.

Thanks so much for posting all of the talking points the paid posters use on a daily basis. Your claims about the Presidents trips are old and debunked. You knew that before you posted because you are a regular here/ You just prove everything said about the right wing and the things they do to get elected.

... and, yet, no one provided the facts that ostensibly debunk the claim.

Where are the General Accounting Office's numbers?

It doesn't matter what the PRESIDENT does with travel, because he is on duty at all times. Because you never complained about George W. Bush, you have no credibility in your stance on this. None.

Wow, that's a lot of money. Makes you wonder what it has cost us for Obama flying round on Air Force1 and riding all over in that big black bus campaigning, fund raising and speechifying. I'll bet that and all the expenses for his secret service was astronomical.

For all those who want to draw the false comparisons between Obama and Perry on this score, you need to remember that Obama is one thing Perry will never be: President.

repubs are all a bit more paranoid than the average bear. they are always afraid someone is after them. thats why they continually try to terrorize everyone with visions of terrorists to the right of us and terrorists to the left. they really are cowardly........

Maybe he needs such a large detail because of what kind of person he is? If you are that scared of your peoples why want to represent them?

Perry added the big security detail when he was exposed for his liking of big rocks with racist words on them.

As expected. Here we have Texas with a pending budget shortfall of 27 billion dollars for the current fiscal year. "Some state leaders have attributed the state's budget woes solely to the economic downturn and have vowed to deal with the current budget shortfall, estimated at $15 billion to $27 billion, through spending cuts alone." http://www.statesman.com/news/texas-politics/texas-budget-challenges-could-persist-beyond-2011-1223479.html

This is the same approach Europe is doing and we see how that is working for them. Its not. Yet, while cutting funding for all things "general public", Perry spends unprecedented amounts on his security while running for a primary position he won't win, has no organizational structure in place to win and if won would be ineffectual, incompetent and "putting his foot 'deep' in it".

So is the waste of millions something Texas love to pay for - it would seem so.

No. Plenty of people are angry that education took the brunt of the cuts. The state parks are reduced to begging people to contribute to keep them running.

You're not a serious candidate without a large posse.

Even if that posse just happens to be taxpayer-funded, it looks impressive.

The only thing working in Perry's head is hair follicles, so they could just as easily save all that money with a kevlar vest and call it a day.

Could it be Hair Club for Men - Paid for by Health Insurance or Texas taxpayers?

I think many Texans did not realize Perry was this bad until he started the Presidential run. Now they know. Texas Monthly awarded him their "Bum Steer of the Year" award.
