Hugh Hefner, Crystal Harris Battle It Out Over Puppy

No More Puppy Love

Hugh Hefner and ex-fiancee Crystal Harris are in a custody battle of sorts.

The two may have called it quits on their engagement in June, but the two are still tied together by a Charlie, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

People reports that when 85-year-old Hefner and 25-year-old Harris split, she let him keep the dog, but the former couple are now going back and forth over who gets permanent ownership of Charlie.

"We both love the puppy," the Playboy founder told People at his Mansion in Los Angeles. "I told her if she wants to keep the ring and the Bentley, then maybe I can keep the puppy. I [hope] we will work it out."

Hefner and Harris announced their engagement via Twitter on Dec. 26, 2010 and called off their nuptials just six months later.

A month after their relationship ended Hefner told People that he "missed a bullet" by not marrying Harris, admitting that marriage likely wasn't right for him.

He told the magazine, "I think my natural state is single. I've tried marriage twice, not successfully. These were not the happiest times of my life."

As for poor Charlie, the dog the the pair are fighting over, Hefner admits, "The puppy is valuable, but not $100,000 worth."

While Hefner and Harris are still in talks about who gets to keep their beloved dog, Hef is never without a woman, or women at his side. The elderly womanizer currently calls Anna Sophia Bergland and Shera Bechard his "two very special ladies."
