Whale now we've seen everything!

The Daily Mail published these photos of a beluga whale blowing bubbles and waving to the camera at Kamogawa Sea World, east of Tokyo.

Beluga whales, also known as white whales, are highly social mammals found in the Arctic Ocean, according to National Geographic. They communicate using "clicks, whistles and clangs" and live in small groups called pods.

Of course, these photos aren't the only documented instance of beluga whales showing off. There are several YouTube videos of white whales performing tricks and hamming it up.

Click through the slideshow below including photos and a video of another white whale performing bubble theatrics.

So the Belugas are highly social? Looks like they are all alone in those glorified fish tanks at Sea World and the like. I think the whale is not so much waving as begging onlookers for help! No marine mammal should be kept in captivity. Too bad the real story of these whales and dolphins is so rarely told.

Can socialize with the humans. Can and are used for further understanding of their behavior. Zoos and acqauriums now are repositories of threatened species. Out in the wild, that you idealise, they are killed. Welcome to our imperfect world.

Set the whales free! Whales do not belong in tanks, they belong in the ocean!
