Bebe Bridal Photos Have Arrived -- What Do You Think? (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 12/28/2011 4:31 pm   Updated: 12/28/2011 4:31 pm

Last week we thoughtfully weighed the pros and cons of a Bebe bridal line, contemplating whether the audacious new step might not be all that bad.

This week we're done conjecturing and onto judging: the first looks have arrived.

With some preview photos on InStyle.com and a few more on Brides.com, we can soundly say that Bebe Bridal isn't half bad. It's not all good, as the budget is small and the styles designed for mass appeal -- hence the ever popular mermaid hem and strapless bodice.

But these aren't heinous dresses. We see no garish sequins nor zebra print, nor do any of the gowns resemble bandage dresses as we feared. They're tasteful, basic and affordable: prices will range from $950 to $2,500 once the line hits US stores.

The dresses wouldn't crack our "Best of 2011" list, but we wouldn't totally write off Bebe's new venture into Wedding Land. Check out the looks below -- what do you think?

Quick Poll

Oh, and ....the model in the pictures looks like a toothpick wrapped in toilet paper - ugly gown - what bride looks like that...... unless she spent a month in Eithiopia during famine.

Weddings have gotten to be out rageously expensive and plainly stupid. When I grew up, an invitation to a wedding was given because you wanted the person(s) there to share the event with the family - now (last wedding) it was made clear that since the "plate" (diiner) cost $125.00 per person, it was expected that the gift should cost at least that much - no thanks, don't want to be part of your production........if you have children and can afford the cost of a wedding, make it small and give them the money to use as a start out in life. Sorry for being practical, but paying $2500. for a wedding gown and all the crap some planner says you need...well, it's just nothing but a racket based on pumping up your ego while having your wallet/purse drained. Lots of B.S.

They are nice gowns http://www.weddingdressexpert.com but at prices up to $2500 I would not say they are cheap.

Those are pretty pricey dresses.. I rented a $2,000 gown for $200 plus alterations & returned it to the store... Why would I want to keep it anyway? It's a ridiculous way to spend money when you will never wear it again.

Maybe if they used a real person in their pictures and not a poorly postured stick. I read this because I think another granddaughter is thinking about it!!

Ditto. The models are too thin to show off the beauty of the dresses.

The only thing I like about these dresses is two of them have straps. Almost everything out there is strapless. $950-$2500 is too much to spend for a wedding dress, we did my oldest daughters' entire wedding for $2000 and it was beautiful! So much so, family and friends now want me to do theirs for them. Not my idea of a dream job!

Is this how wedding dresses are modeled? They don't look very bride like.

Just don't end up in Thailand. LOL

Hangeover 2 notwithstanding, Thailand is a great honeymoon destination. My son had a private villa there, with his own pool.

they should be made of paper. after the wedding and you're at the hotel, it's going to get riped off anyway.

They should make them out of paper for all the use they're going to get and charge $49.95 at WalMart. Plus sizes $59.95. Besides that, they can be recycled.

The headline said retailer unveils "affordable" bridal gowns. The price range is $905 - $2500. How is this any more affordable than a standard bridal line? Sure, you can spend tens of thousands on a gown, but these are no more affordable than an average gown. Personally, I don't like the styles.

My granddaughter bought a $1500 dress for under $500 because she is slender and could wear the sample. It was beautiful and looked great on her. My "wedding dress" probably was less than $50 (it was a very long time ago) and I could have worn it to work but my insane MIL gave it away without consulting me.

all mermaid? what the heck!?

I've always noticed a similar trend when it comes to wedding dressings...the higher the price, the tackier it is. These aren't bad, but not something I would go for.

The poor fit is because the models are anorexic.
