Whoever came up with this is either on the "Take" OR El Stupido Grande! (no offense to the Real El Stupido Grande)

I don't think a car seat is necessary for kids that old. I have no issues with them being required to sit in the back seat, depending on size, airbags can be bad for kids.

It's amazing how we all managed to survive to adult hood without being strapped to extra seating until puberty. Until age 8? Are you kidding me?

I agree 100%. My seven year old son is already 4'9" and really doesn't fit in his seat but until he turns eight, next September, I don't want to risk a ticket.

protecting children...yeah, right. I wonder which politician(s) and auto lobbyist(s) profitted from this transaction. All this means is that parents will have to go out and spend more money buying new age/weight specific booster seats. The fine is starting at around $500. More money, more money, more money. Another means for California to bring in revenue into our bankrupt economy. Just like with the bluetooths. The more they limit our freedoms the more they can charge us for it.

I agree, although sometimes it is as simple as someone introduces a law, and nobody wants to be the "guy" who voted against "protecting kids". It is easier to not have to deal with that come next election. All it takes is one 7 year old who dies while riding in the front seat to be used in a campaign ad.

now let's hope they actually enforce it... i am tired of seeing kids in people's laps or standing up in the seat & some times actually waving to us as we pass. these parents or drivers can't take the time to buckle their kids to keep them safe but they will find the time to sue when they get injured...

are these laws there for protection or for writing tickets?

tickets.... it's all about the money...like they really care if your kid is in a safty seat or not, just like the seat belt and helmet law....

I say free yourself and your family from all this government oppression and just remove the government mandated safety features from all your vehicles.

pretty soon they'll have to be in a special seat until they're 18
