Nikki Haley-Mandated Greeting Challenged By South Carolina Legislators

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Two South Carolina legislators say state employees shouldn't have to answer the phone with Gov. Nikki Haley's mandated cheery greeting unless it's truly a great day in South Carolina.

Democratic state Reps. John Richard King and Wendell Gilliard have filed legislation saying no state agency can force its employees to answer the phone with, "It's a great day in South Carolina," as long as state unemployment is 5 percent or higher. Their bill also would prohibit requiring the greeting as long as all South Carolinians don't have health insurance.

At a September meeting, Haley ordered her Cabinet agencies to embrace the greeting, saying it could help change the mood of state government. A Haley spokesman says the Republican governor stands by the greeting.

Bottom line you cannot ask employees to LIE and while the Gov may live in LaLa land their are many South Carolinians who are not having "A Great Day in South Carolina"!

Most of the comments here are overlooking the fact that the real problem is not the Governor mandating a telephone greeting. I have worked for companies that wrote scripts for entire telephone conversations. Many stores use scripted greetings when customers walk in. How many times do you hear welcome to Waffle House when you breakfast there? No, the real problem is these two good for nothing legislators who filed legislation about this mandate. Our nation is circling the drain while politicians at all levels of government waste time and money on pissing contest. Maybe we should change the constitution to read that when a political party wins the presidency the other party has to go home. Then all you people arguing one party over the other would see that all politicians are useless.

Maybe she should have ordered the local government officials to say
' It's a great day in South Carolina if you are not poor, not black, not on welfare or social security, not too old to get a drivers license with your picture on it so you can vote OR a republican contributor'.
