TV shows can make us laugh, cry, scream, and sometimes, they leave us slack-jawed and completely shocked about what we just saw.

Those OMG moments are the ones that are etched into our minds, for better or for worse. And this year was certainly chock-full of them. From some incredibly awkward sex on both "Modern Family" and "Homeland" (in completely different ways, of course) to the tie-straightening and startling demise of Gus Fring on "Breaking Bad" to the incest trend that took over premium cable shows, see which 11 scripted scenes on the small screen were our standouts for 2011.

NOTE: The below slideshow contains spoilers if you are not up-to-date on "American Horror Story," "Breaking Bad," "Modern Family," "Homeland," "The Good Wife," "Parks and Recreation," "Doctor Who," "Glee," "Dexter," "The Killing" and "Fringe."

FX's new thriller "American Horror Story" was riddled with multiple shocking moments per episode: There's the time Tate impregnated Vivien, when Vivien gave birth to a demon baby and Addie's heartbreaking death. But there was one that clearly stood out from the rest -- Violet's jaw-dropping death. Not only had the Harmon daughter been dead for a few weeks, but seeing her decomposing body went far beyond your standard OMG scene. Sure, we had been anticipating this moment for weeks, but we never thought it would be that hard to stomach.
