When couples divorce, they typically want to shed as many memories of their exes as possible.

But these nine celebs chose to always be reminded of their marriages -- or reap the benefits of them -- by keeping their ex-spouses' last names after their splits.

Ike Turner changed Mae Bullock's name to Tina Turner after her singing career took off. After they split, Tina fought in divorce court to keep her stage name despite their volatile marriage (the singer accused Ike Turner of physical and emotional abuse, which he downplayed), because she had worked so hard to make it famous. The former couple, who split in 1975 after 13 years of marriage, have a 51-year-old son, Ronnie Turner.

It's name recognition as these spouses couldn't stand alone on their own merits (lack thereof?) IMO.

Priscilla Presley's maiden name was NOT Wagner. Good grief, do a LITTLE homework for heaven's sake.

Faith Hill was married to Daniel Hill for 7 years, he helped her a lot in her career. They had no kids, but she kept his last name even tho' many women would love to change their last names to McGraw! Most people dont know she was married to Dan Hill before and for 7 years.

No one would know them, if they went back to their maiden names. Especially if you were just reading an article about them with no picture or someone was on tv talking about them with no picture of them.

Tina Turner obviously kept her married name for professional reasons and it has a nice ring to it. Tina "Bullock" does not have as good a rhythm either. Since Priscilla can say she was the one and only Mrs., I do not blame her for keeping the famous name Presley.

Most of them wouldn't have been recognized by their former names, and the married name was instant recognition. No brainers, as these women seem to thrive on publicity.

You omitted one "biggie." How about Martha Stewart?

Yes, that is a good one. She hung onto that name for sure.

I'm no celebrity (well...maybe in my own mind at times) but I kept my married last name too (definitely wasn't in an attempt to hold on to the any part of the relationship)....it just wasn't worth the hassle to have to change everything back in my maiden name (credit cards, bank info., etc.). Not to mention...I wanted my son and I to have the same last name. I can imagine that's probably why celebs keep their married name too. I must say...fast forward a couple years...and I wish now I would have gone back to my maiden name. Oh well....it's never too late. I'm just too lazy.

After a little over a year of divorce, I decided to go back to my maiden name. It did take some effort on my part but it went pretty smoothly overall. My papers say I am permitted to keep my name, they don't say I HAVE to. It was my choice to change it back because it was time and there are no children involved. With respect to the papers, the bank did require me to submit a copy of my certified birth cert and marriage cert due to the way the papers were written. I am a notary in the county I live in and my boss has to change my name on the bond he has on me plus my stamp. He stated it's a lot of money to change it and wanted to know when my current cert expires. It expires in 2014 but the thing is, is that I don't plan to stay in the state I live in for that long. Though it would probably make more sense just to keep things the way they are, I want my last name changed on everything because I don't want to be identified by my married name anymore.

I don't blame you for keeping your married name for awhile. A friend of mine kept hers until the children were out of the house so she would have the same name as them while they were growing up.
