Super Soul Sunday: Becoming More Self-Aware (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/29/11 12:17 PM ET Updated: 12/30/11 09:24 AM ET

No matter what your New Year's resolution is for 2012, we could all use a greater sense of self-awareness. The documentary I AM follows Tom Shadyac, director of films like Bruce Almighty and The Nutty Professor, on his quest for answers about how the world works and who we really are after his life-threatening bike accident.

Check out Oprah's personal message above and find out why Shadyac says "We started by asking what's wrong with the world, and we ended up discovering what's right with it" on "Super Soul Sunday" on New Year's Day from 8-11 a.m. ET/PT and an encore at noon ET/PT on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network for the full version.

For more programming to nourish your mind, body and spirit tune in to OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network's new "Super Soul Sunday," airing Sundays from 8-11 a.m. ET/PT and visit www.oprah.com/supersoulsunday.

Maybe Oprah will watch it twice a day and become aware of her narcissism.

"A paradigm is a model, theory or explanation of something else. It is the "lens" of our
preconceived notions through which we view the world. If our paradigm is not close to reality,
our attitudes, behaviors and responses will not be effective or appropriate. We will be as lost as a
person trying to function in Chicago with a map of New York."

The article tells me to watch Oprah become more self-aware. I am confidently aware enough to know that it isn't necessary. Thanks, Oprah!

Maslow's hierarchy of needs places self awareness at the top. It's a lovely goal, but only realistic once basic needs of food, shelter, sleep, etc. are met. I guess billionaires like Oprah and Trump must make the best philosophers because they have the time to do so. Scary thought, huh?

I know im self aware. But my real concern is how many people are aware of me? thats one of the real issues here. hello everyone. :)
