Joe Halderman, David Letterman's Extortionist, Gets New Job

Joe Halderman, the former CBS News producer who attempted to blackmail David Letterman in 2009, has a new job. TVNewser learned that Halderman was hired by Investigation Discovery's "On the Case with Paula Zahn" as a producer.

Halderman pleaded guilty in 2010 to attempted grand larceny, after the television producer admitted to demanding $2 million dollars to keep personal information about Letterman quiet. Halderman's demands caused Letterman to announce on-air that he had sexual relations with women on his "Late Show" staff.

Halderman was sentenced to six months in prison. He was released in September 2010 after four months. Halderman was nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on an episode of CBS "48 Hours Mystery" program while he was in jail.
