Michele Bachmann Vows To Stay In Race Despite Kent Sorenson Defection

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Vowing to press ahead through the Iowa caucuses, Republican Michele Bachmann dismissed the notion Thursday that her presidential campaign was in disarray.

Her comments came a day after a key supporter fled her campaign and she had to fend off other calls to leave the race for the GOP nomination.

The Minnesota congresswoman called her campaign organization "strong" and said her headquarters had received 150 calls of support after her Iowa campaign chairman, state Sen. Kent Sorenson, resigned and switched his allegiance to rival Ron Paul.

Sorenson backed Paul on Wednesday, a few hours after appearing with Bachmann. She alleges he was offered "a lot of money" to change sides, an inducement she said Sorenson had told her about during a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

"I know what I was told in that conversation," Bachmann said.

The Paul campaign and Sorenson deny that money factored into the decision or that any such offer was made.

Sorenson told CNN on Thursday that he wanted to back a candidate who is in a position to keep Mitt Romney from winning Iowa. "It's unfortunate they're resorting to these type of tactics," Sorenson said. "But the fact of the matter is she wasn't going to win Iowa."

Bachmann's Iowa political director, Wes Enos, said he doesn't believe Sorenson left for money. Enos said he was staying with the Bachmann campaign.

UPDATE: Bachmann spokeswoman Alice Stewart said to ABC News Thursday that Enos is "is no longer with us," but would not say whether he was fired or left on his own accord.

Were I deranged enough to have been associated with this woman her rhapsodizing in almost sexual tones about her AR15 might have given me pause. This woman has no sense of proportion. Her throttle pedal is either at idle or all the way to the floor. Even race tracks have walls

Don't give up, Michele, and never latr others try to tell you what to do. Your followers will stay with you at least until January 19, 2013. However, if someone else is sworn into office as the president on Jan. 20, you may want to reconsider your options.

I really want to see if the voters of Minnesota are as stupid as I think they are--by electing Buchmann to the congress again. It boggles my mind to see who some of these states send to Washington.

All of the drama certainly doesn't speak well of her ability to handle the 3 o'clock phone

I agree. I wrote a post comparing her to Palin, but it didn't make it through their monitors. Guess they didn't like me saying they "fight like girls", but it is the sterotype that is always applied to women when they do not know how to play the game. She needs to quit her whining, and stay focused if she wants to play with the rest of the gang. I noticed that her and Palin always run to the camera to tattletale on whoever crosses them. It is such a cop out. Personally I can't believe she made it this far! Makes me nervous about my fellow citizens. Religious zealots have no place in our government, we do not want a theocracy. They carry on about Muslim fanatics, but they are cut from the same cloth.

I, like you, also wonder about my fellow citizens and their ability to judge.
That she has made it this far says more about them then it does her.
I guess that is why they call it pandering.
