'Beyond Scared Straight': Inmate Lashonda Threatens Show's Camera Crew (VIDEO)

First Posted: 12/30/11 04:07 AM ET Updated: 12/30/11 09:43 AM ET

Prison is a tough place and it can breed tough people. Lashonda, who is for 10 years on a check fraud charge, is full of spit and vinegar. But at the same time, she seems passionate about reaching out to the troubled teens on "Beyond Scared Straight" (Thu., 10:30 p.m. EST on A&E).

If there was any question as to whether or not the inmates were putting on more of a performance with their speeches to the kids, Lashonda set the record straight. On the Dec. 29 episode, she was in the faces of those kids, letting them know that none of them are as bad as they think they are.

But, Lashonda had the same disdain and anger towards the camera crew filming.

She threatened them a few times for being too close to her face, and finally ,she snapped, forgetting the kids altogether. At that point, the guards escorted her -- still yelling at the camera crew -- out of the room while the kids looked on in confusion.

Wow people don't know this was staged? A&E has to spice this show up some how because it was the same boring yelling and crying crap over and over and I don't know why they even kept this show around.Hopefully A&E doesn't start to turn into another TruTv with all those garbage shows Lizard Licking.Pawn Shop where they pay the customers to try and act.I'm sorry but I like the real deal Intervention,First 48 etc not these staged horrible acting reality shows.

How do you get 10 years in prison for check forgery? The worst public defender in the state.

Lashonda obviously has a heart big enough to try to help the kids, but she must have had reason throughout life to be extremely defensive. Life can be so hard for some, starting at childhood and this is often he result. But don't let them still have power over you when you're grown by turning to crime and ending up behind bars. It's never to late.

Most prisons in the USA have a mental ward.--------------This woman should be an inmate patient there.---------------What a n*tjob.

As dangerous as she obviously is, she may do more to scare those youngsters straight than the other inmates in the program.

So was she always this violent and outspoken, or did prison help that?

Instead of sending them to these places, try a belt, switch, or if they wanna go hard do what you can to knock'em out. But if you think by sending them to this place to get them to come around means either you are really late, or you really don't/didn't care up to this point in their lives what they were involved in. At this age it's basically up to them.

If beatings worked, you'd only have to do it once. It just makes your children despise you.

Physically " correcting" a child teaches only teaches them to be violent. Keep your hands off your children unless it to hug.

your parents should of beat that stuttering out of you.

There is no way that I would let things get so out of control with my kid, that I would need to send them to prison to get "guidance" from someone like that. Parents nowadays let their kids run wild and try to be a friend instead of a parent and wonder why their kids don't respect them and become little criminals.
