December Is The Busiest Plastic Surgery Month, Doctors Say

Plastic Surgery Holidays

All I want for Christmas is a nip/tuck?

We all want to look good in our Christmas cocktail dresses and New Year's Eve frocks, but it turns out many people desire more drastic changes to their appearances during the holidays: December, and especially these final days of the month, is the busiest time of the year for many plastic surgeons, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Bariatric surgeons, who performs procedures like gastic bypass surgery, also see an uptick in clients this time of year.

While wanting to look hot for holiday parties may play a role in women's desire to score Botox and nose jobs in December, there may be another motive for winter surgery seekers: patients can use the time off from work between Christmas and New Year's to recover from procedures and hopefully return to the office bruise and bandage-free come January. Some patients also opt for year-end procedures to make the most of their health-care insurance deductible.

It makes sense that people would make use of the holiday downtime to recover; however, we'd rather spend our end-of-the-year drinking eggnog at holiday parties, not lying in bed with our face in bandages. But we'll be fine so long as Sofia Vergara doesn't emerge in the new year with a breast reduction.

Read more at the WSJ, and below, a word of caution to holiday surgery seekers: see some celebs who frankly say they regret getting their plastic surgery:

There is a strange look to women and men that have taken the knife to their faces. I know this sounds terrible but they eventually have a similar appearance the way people born with Down Syndrome have. None of what they do ever looks natural, distinctive features are traded in for off the shelf parts making them all look like some sub-species of human kind. The goal to look better in the end makes them look different and done and not better. It is a sickening trend that will eventually make it's way down market to the middle class the way exclusive and ridiculous thing usually do.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, plastic surgery can't fix what isn't there. Bottom line: if you aren't pretty, plastic surgery won't change that. I'm not trying to be mean, but it's true.

NO guy likes fake boobs. Natural is a thousand times better.

I see plenty of men act like boobs around fake boobs.

Exactly. Unless it's reconstructive surgery to repair an issue it always looks fake and weird.

Plastic surgery is for plastic people. We all age and we all die. If you can't come to terms with that your latter years will be miserable. I really don't care what people look like. But I do care what people think and do. I would rather have a supposedly ugly friend who was compassionate and cared for people than a selfish greedy so called beauty.

"Someone You Know Is Probably Getting Plastic Surgery Right Now"

Slight exaggeration?

I'm surprised December is the top month - I would think, because of the holidays, that JAn - Mar would be top months. I desperately want to get a breast reduction, but I'm petrified of going under. I'm a tall, slender woman, with the most enormous breasts - it's insane...if anyone thinks that sounds attractive, it's not!!! Anyone ever gone under??? Anyone know anyone who's gotten a reduction?
04:50 PM on 01/02/2012
I have heard of 2 actresses who had reductions: Queen Latifah and Soleil Moon Frye.

I have two friends that have gotten a reduction and they both said that they were glad to have had it done. Their clothes fit better and they had less back issues.
If you're seriously considering it, go to your doctor and see what they say as to what the potential issues and complications could be. Then you can see if you think it's worth it. :)

That would be a no!

Why do most of them have one boob going north and the other one going south! LOL! Glad that I'm natural!

And just how further, in 2012, will Joan Rivers' face be stretched???

So my question is, why aren't people in general looking any better with all this improvement allegedly going on?

Well personally I think most of the time plastic surgery is not really an improvement at all...look at Megan Fox, she destroyed her natural beauty; now she looks like a wax dummy

Agreed. She was beautiful and she looks bizarre now.
