Nothing goes better with watching your game than a plateful of hot "buffalo" wings and some beer to wash them down. Even if you're not into the game, some spicy wings are just the right thing to get your party started. You can find these tasty treats around almost every corner, but the ones at the following places are worth seeking out.

Maybe the mother of all hot wing restaurants in Austin, Pluckers offers a variety of sized orders (up to 100), and their original hot sauce is about as perfect as can be: tangy, slightly sweet and mildly spicy. We also like the Hallelujah sauce (a Jack Daniels infused concoction) as well as the Spicy BBQ.

Wing Zone

Absolutely delicious (and large) wings for pick up or delivery. The cream of the crop are their Lemon Zingers: a lemon, pepper and spices mixture that might even make you try to eat two wings at once. A close second is the Thai Chili, made with spicy Thai chilis and sweet and sour sauce. WZ also offers fried shrimp baskets if you're not in a chicken kind of mood.

Quite new to the scene in Hyde Park, Wingzup is a sports bar with an extensive wings menu, making for a perfect combo on game day. Lots of great flavors include Curry, Buffalo Ranch and Spicy Garlic. And nearly as good as the wings are the Friend Mac-N-Cheese Triangles, which are exactly what they sound like: heaven.

Alamo Drafthouse

We've got to mention what is perhaps the best item on the Drafthouse's menu: These wings are large and meaty and perfectly spiced. Not only that, they're one of the easier items to eat in the dark. We recommend them for movies that have a lot of zest to begin with, like a Bond film or anything with "fast" in the title.

RC Fowlers

Twenty-five different flavors coupled with large-sized wings and late night service make Fowlers a trip worth taking. The Mango Tango is a unique and exotic flavor that we go back for. They also do some tasty pizzas -- and yes, one of them is the buffalo chicken.
