Beyonce's Father, Mathew Knowles, Set To Resume College Course

In the midst of fictitious Beyonce baby watch rumors comes news that the singer's father and record executive Mathew Knowles is set to resume his signature, The Recording Industry, course during this year's Spring semester at Texas Southern University's School of Communication.

Beginning January 23 Knowles will meet with students weekly as he go over the various functions of the recording industry including business affairs, marketing, radio promotions, public relations, artist development, merchandising, music publishing, booking agents, concert promotions and more. For Knowles, who graduated from Fisk University in 1974 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, leading a classroom of young adults is one of his many passions.

"Teaching and mentoring young adults is one of my passions," Knowles said in a press release. "I am most impressed with their intellect and creative thinking abilities. I'm confident that my students will continue to develop into critical thinkers and will go on to be brilliant contributors to society."

Upon completion of mogul's special course students will have the opportunity to create audio and video presentations for a new record label and present it to Knowles at Music World Entertainment's House of Dereon Media Center.

Aside from lecturing throughout the year at various Universities and nonprofit organizations, the former Xerox executive is also in the process of completing a series of as-yet-untitled books to be released later this year.

He knows nothing about what he's teaching. He hasnt had to do any of that. He's only in the classroom because he's Beyonce's daddy. The record label handle those things for the artist. All he had to do is to approve the labels proposals or lose the contract/be sued, and sign the contract as the groups representative/manager. Matt was just lucky enough to have a product in a beautiful package with enough talent for the record label to do big things with markerting and promotions. Had he known all these things on his own, Solange and all the other groups he supposedly manages would have careers as big as Beyonce. He would be more like a Clive Davis than just a Joe Jackson. (Remember how Berry Gordy stepped in and took over the Jacksons and sent their careers into orbit as Joe simply wore the title as manager?) Beyonce's success is based largely on how she looks and a little of talent. Matt go hold your illegitimate child and leave the classrooms for highly educated professionals or label execs with more than one success story. Ugh!

Char Den, you said the record label handles everything for the artists, hence the manager does not have to do anything besides approve and honor the contract between the artists and the record label. Tom Petty and others had managers who had done just that and sit back. Several years later they sued the record labels for additional royalties and they have won their cases, thanks to the skills of independent Accountants who were brought in by the artists.If you are an artist or artist-manager would you trust the record label to do everything for you or your artist artist?

Yes, why not enhance life and business skills to help the youth of today venture into industries they otherwise wouldn't have gone into, although they may have had an interest in this direction. I believe, Sting, Rod Stewart, Sugar Ray, Red Hot Chili Peppers(forget which member), Clay Aiken and Bon Jovi a coach, sure there are others? I believe Criminal Justice, Courts, Doctors, Technical Engineers, Dept of Environmental Protection, Stock Market Executives, would be areas of interest. Again, yes, I do believe those with life lessons and the skills to success should be demonstrating their knowledge in teaching students this.
