'Hoarders': Dr. Chibaud Breaks Up A Fight Between Sisters (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/03/12 06:22 AM ET Updated: 01/03/12 06:36 AM ET

It was another double-dose of reasons to clean house with the season premiere of "Hoarders" (Mon., 9 p.m. EST on A&E). Linda was one of the people featured, and hers was a house filled with filth and a dysfunctional relationship between her and her two adult sons, who still lived with her. Perhaps their most tragic exchange came when she couldn't say they were more important than holding on to maybe a hundred pots and pans, even though it had been three decades since she had cooked a meal.

Dr. Chibaud had to get invovled when Linda and her sister Robin started fighting during the clean-up. Linda insisted it was Robin trying to control her life, but really it was Linda putting up walls to protect herself from Robin and anyone else in the world. But the fight proved cathartic, and it was important that Robin never stopped emphasizing that all of this was because she cared about her sister.

The other story spotlighted Norman, who was only seven weeks out from the death of his girlfriend in his hoarded house. While his was one of the more tragic stories yet, and his emotional state incredibly fragile, he had a powerful break through when his sister told him he was sick, and shows hope for a great recovery as he realizes his problem and learns to let go and move on.

"Hoarders" returns every Monday at 9 p.m. EST on A&E.

I dunno seems to me a lot of the folks on this show are 'southern white (trailer) trash' types, I know it's cliche but it's true!

I love this show. You have to appreciate how brave the people who agree to do this in front of a national audience are. I root for them. If you aren't moved by their plight you are made of stone. If you think their problems are just laziness you're an idiot. If you think that only a small percentage of people suffer this you're just wrong.

I'd rather live with a hoarder than a hater.

They are not lazy, this is a condition or a pattern of behavior and usually it stems from something. Sometimes people do things and we don't understand why they do it. To others it seems crazy but to them it makes sense. It is psychological. It could be the loss of a loved one or a divorce or something that stems from childhood. We all have things that we go through in our life and some people can cope with those things and others may not be able to cope and may result in hoarding, drugs, alcohol, food, etc. We are all different and it's about understanding and compassion. I personally could never live like that but I don't judge them because I don't know what they went through in their life to say negative things about them, the only thing is that they need therapy to overcome whatever obstacles they are going through and hope that it gets better.

No they are not just lazy pigs. Where do you practice medicine? They are sad, suffering people who think these things, junk, trash and filth to you and I perhaps, but to them...not so much.
