First Posted: 01/05/12 10:17 AM ET   Updated: 01/05/12 10:17 AM ET

Remember when you were a little kid making sand castles and right when you achieved perfection a giant wave crashed down and ruined everything?

Well, maybe if you had just gotten to finish what you started you would have ended up with something like these mesmerizing sand sculptures by Carl Jara.

Dealing with topical subject matter ranging from the political to the playful, Jara creates sculptural masterpieces that give Ancient Greek classics a run for their money. Jara told The Huffington Post: "It's just sand and water, and we're just doing what we do, what we love to do." The breathtaking collection will make you want to get to the nearest beach and perform your own artistic feats.

On the original page HuffPost makes the claim that one of these sand sculptures has lasted for fourteen years.
This is untrue.
The artist states that the Childrens Museum has been a client of his for fourteen years, not that the Galapagos sculpture has lasted 14 years.
News flash Huff: You do not have to lie to us to make us click the link, all lying to us does is cause a drop in the respectometer.
On the sculptures: Amazing stuff, Alien VS Bender cracked me up ;)

How amazing ...what a shame they all just get blown or washed away....

I wish artists would stick to art that they do so well and stay away from economics and politics that they do so poorly.

"I wish artists would stick to art that they do so well and stay away from economics and politics that they do so poorly."

After reading both of your posts, I wish you would stick to what you do. Let me guess... you're a 6th grader working on a report about supply and demand.

A few years ago, there was someone (can't remember the name) that was going from city to city building huge sand sculptures in the malls. It was so neat to see up close. Of course, once they brought in the sand and built it, they were roped off to keep anyone from touching them. It was amazing the details they can do with sand and water.

I can do that, I just don't want to. Ha, ha, ha, great sculptures.

Nice! How in the heck do they provide so much detail to the sculptures?
