The dresses being painted included a $6,000 Vera Wang creation and a number of other high-dollar gowns.

Having been a fashion design major at FIT, such stupidity horrifies me! I believe the gowns should have been auctioned off and half of the proceeds donated to a local food bank or some other charitable organization. That would have made it a WIN WIN for everyone involved. What a waste!!!!

This is so outrageous!!! I understand that it is their merchandise to do with as they wish, but if you choose to buy a Vera Wang $6,000 gown and can afford it, good for you. They could have donated these to charity, took the tax write-off AND kept our landfills clear! What a waste!!!!!

The gowns belonged to the store, they had the right to dispose of them as they wished. How many of their customers would feel outraged and cheated if their wedding was coming up and they had already purchased their gown.....and others were getting theirs for free? How many bridal stores would suffer if the gowns were given away? Bridal stores are a small speciality business, they have to be competitive, but at the same time, look out for one another.
