'Mobbed': Steve Proclaims His Love To A Long-Distance Friend (VIDEO)

Howie Mandel returned to Fox for the largest batch of "Mobbed" (Wed., 9 p.m. EST on Fox) episodes yet. The continuing popularity of the format, which sees people using the power of a flash mob to express something to someone else, has created a series out of a one-shot television event.

This time around, Steve Soboslai decided he wanted to express how deep his feelings have grown for his long-distance friend Dana. The two had never met before, so why not do it with hundreds of your closest strangers?

Soboslai, who fronts the band Punchline, sang Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me" to Dana, and finally revealed the reason for all the insanity erupting around her. He wants to stop being long-distance friends and try for something more. Luckily, Dana wasn't so stunned by the spectacle that she couldn't answer. She agreed to see where this relationship could go from here. After a start like that, who wouldn't?

"Mobbed" returns next Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST on Fox, and then comes back in February for more singing and dancing.

Um, anybody else think this isn't going to last any longer than the publicity from it does? Her reaction was not the one of someone who was thrilled to be publicly cornered like that, but rather of someone who just gave in to the peer pressure of the moment. It was pretty clear she only thought of him as a friend.

The band released a new EP with their version of "I Want You To Want Me" on it. You can (and should) pick it up on iTunes. These guys have been making amazing power pop music for more than a decade - and this episode was a treat.
