Princess Mette-Marit Mixes All Sorts Of Colors, Textures In Oslo (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 01/05/2012 11:07 am   Updated: 01/05/2012 11:07 am

Some children dream of having the long, blonde hair of a Barbie doll. Other children might dream of being a princess some day.

Lucky for her, Princess Mette-Marit has seemingly achieved both goals. The Norway royal has the tanned skin and blonde waves of a doll and the "princess" titled tacked on her name -- and, as we saw today, good fashion sense to boot.

Mette-Marit was out in Oslo with her husband, Prince Haakon, to attend a conference at the Oslo Opera House. The 38-year-old princess made some bold style choices by mixing navy, black and brown; toting a patterned bag; and choosing shiny, black leather ankle boots. Yet somehow the ensemble works, partially because we're totally distracted by her hair. That is one blindingly blonde Scandinavian!

The princess (who sort of looks like an Amy Poehler doppleganger in a few photos) tends to play it safe but chic with her fashion picks -- what do you think of her winter look below?

Battle of the Royal hair! The gauntlet has been thrown down. I'm going with the slightly reserved, yet far more experienced Royal Norway hair to take the World Championship Title!

Her prince is quite handsome!

As some posters already pointed out, Princess Mette-Marit's blond comes from a bottle.

I don't like the outfit at all. It's accessorized badly. The skirt has potential, but not with that tote bag or the ankle boots.

Thank you...as a natural blonde, I get really p'off by ignornant people referring to peroxide, bottle blondes as blondes, THEY ARE NOT!!!. The roots are always a dead giveaway that their colour comes from a bottle. Eyebrows are alas, not accurate in determining real blondes versus false blondes because these people now dye/lighten their eyebrows to give the appearance of being blonde or light haired.

there are actually people in Scandinavia that has that hair colour naturally.. I am not sure about Mette-Marit, she's naturally blonde, but it's hard to tell if she is actually that blonde as you can rarely see any roots

blondes often colour their eyebrows darker though.. so it's not that much of a give away necessarily

She's lovely, but personally I don't care for the granny boots, never had. But I understand they're in fashion and some of the younger women like to wear them. I too am a blond (naturally but I do highlight and brighten mine) and tend to wear more conservative clothing. I will NEVER understand some of the hideous fashions that come out each year. What ARE some of these women thinking?

This is on the web because the fashion writer, named Ellie Krupnut as I always call her, hasn't a single clue as to what makes a fashion article. You should see the idiotic things she does on Princess Catherine and the First Lady!

i feel like we should have some kind of unwritten rule that if they are royalty, they oughta play the part. put on the freaking princess dress and the crown. i don't wana see you parading around in normal clothing. there's nothing royal about that.

How much were you paid to write such a glowing article about an average looking girl with chubby
calfs and a dowdy wardrobe? She's dressed like a overworked housewife on a quick trip to the grocery store. Who picks these women? Your headlines always project a image of someone of outstanding beaut, fabulously dresses, sexy & vibrant and usually fall short..

please don't attend any event at an Opera House with a huge tote bag. Use a purse. Every piece is nice but putting them together results in a hideous look.

Princess who? There sure are a lot of Princesses in the world. I do like the boots a lot! I wish I could balance on those heels.
