'24 Hour Catwalk': Team Richard Has Too Much Shoulder, Not Enough Bra (VIDEO)

'24 Hour Catwalk' Look Too Sexy For The Runway?

The "Project Runway" empire continues to expand with the debut of "24 Hour Catwalk" (Thu., 10 p.m. EST on Lifetime), hosted by Alexa Chung. But while "PR" takes a whole season to crown a winner, "24 Hour" can do it in a single episode. It starts with four designers, and after one challenge cuts the number in half.

After the initial challenge, the contest was between JoAnn and Richard, who were each given a team of three to help them sew three designs from the contents of a trunk in 24 hours. Richard struggled with a 1980s inspired jacket. "I think the big shoulder thing is always hard to do," judge James LaForce told him. "There's a reason we left that shoulder in the '80s."

But the bigger problem was under the jacket, where Richard's model was sporting a rather sheer top and no support underneath. As his model walked down the runway, Richard lamented some of his choices. "She's got some nipple action goin' on ... Oh my god, I can't believe I let this jacket go down the runway," he said. When he asked the judges how they might have liked the look sans jacket, LaForce quipped, "We might have suggested she put on a bra in that case."

For Richard, it was time to say goodbye, as JoAnn was crowned the winner of this 24-hour challenge. Next week, it starts over with a whole new batch of designers. It's certainly a fast-paced twist on the format, but does it take away too much of the drama by giving viewers no chance to connect with the contestants?

"24 Hour Catwalk" continues on Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on Lifetime, right after new episodes of "Project Runway: All Stars."
