Alexandra McLean, Former Englewood High School Theater Teacher, Arrested For Alleged Sexual Assault Of Teen Student

Alexandra McLean, a 27-year-old former theater teacher at Englewood High School, has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student. McLean is being charged with two counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, 7News reports.

The 17-year-old victim and McLean are believed to have met each other during the production of a high school play at Englewood High School, CBS4 reports. McLean would occasionally drive the victim home from rehearsals and in McLean's car is where they allegedly wound up having sex together somewhere around Nov 15. and Nov. 16, according to The Denver Post.

Englewood Police told 9News that they were tipped off about the alleged sexual assault when they received a call from an unnamed 29-year-old woman who claimed that her younger brother was bragging about a sexual relationship with McLean. The victim told police that he and McLean had consensual sex in her car twice and that McLean did not threaten him or make any promises.

The 17-year-old's cell phone was reportedly filled with text messages between McLean and himself which included details about their sexual encounters. According to Fox31, the day after one of the sexual assaults occurred, the victim sent a text message to a friend reading, "So much sex." Another exchange between the teacher and student was more graphic, with McLean texting to the student, "Really good. It would have been better if you were here though," to which the student replied, "Lol the sleeping or the pleasuring yourself?" And McLean answered with, "Ha both I guess."

McLean last worked at Englewood High on Nov. 18 and fully resigned in December 2011. She turned herself into police on Wednesday and Englewood schools notified parents of the charges against McLean the same day.

It's pretty funny that the women reporting this is calling the student a "victim". I wonder what this victim said while all this was going on. Maybe, "stop sucking me off or I'm going to call the police!" Somehow I doubt it. The only thing that's going to happen to this "victim" is that he'll have a memorable senior year of high school.

Where is Englewood? There are several in the US. In Texas, the age of consent is 17. With that said, there are laws that prohibit such relationship, regardless of age. Thet call it "improper relationship". It is to avoid people like teachers and psyc-therapist from using their influence over the people they teach/treat, since people at that stage or situation tend to be vulnerable. As wrong as this is...when i was 17, I prayed it would happend to me......

She should not sleep with a student, even though the age of consent is usually 17 or 18 the latest, sometimes younger. But "assault"? We are so unnaturally tweaked out & politically correct that we have lost all common sense about issues like this. Bad Professional judgement, she should be disciplined. But really, there ARE differences between boys & girls, & VERY FEW 17 YEAR OLD MALES WOULD BE ANYTHING BUT HAPPY. He was not threatened or bribed.

But since it is sexual, folks have such Fear & loathing that their is no discernment about an intelligent & proportionate response. Hiw can we expect to limit & weed out serious crimes like real pedophilia, if we keep acting like this is something like rape?

America tends to be immature & foolish on these issues. BECAUSE of our own conditioned shame & often unresolved repressions &/or sexual issues., we leverage a shaming "cure is worse than the disease", undiscriminating reaction.

But if a male teacher had consensual sex with a 17 year old female student, you know how many people would be up in arms about that, saying how much of a monster he was. How ever we handle this, we shouldn't be treating people differently based on their gender.

Most of the teachers were hot and 9.9 times out of 10 a young teenage boy is not going to turn that down. I noticed the less attractive teachers got way harsher fines and sentences. Go figure. Even in prosecution its still a double standard.

A teacher really has to be careful when dealing with teenagers. BUT I do not believe for 1 second that this woman pressured this boy or forced him to do anything he did not want to do. That is just the plain difference in biology and psychology between males and females. I could certainly imagine a female student being pressure but a 17 yr old boy.....I would guess that he may have even initiated things or was certainly a willing instigator. That does not make it right but to call this some sort of crime is stretching things.

Some European countries have the age of consent at 16!

Why do you automatically assume that a 17 year old girl would be pressured instead of choosing it on her own? It is wrong to say that what you are allowed to do legally should depend on your gender.

RollingForest: I do not assume anything, I simply said that I could imagine (ie certainly understand) that it could be the case. It is a gender issue whether we like it or not. Courts have all sorts of laws for the protection of women against physical abuse....very few courts or these laws ever assume that men can be abused...that is the way society generally perceives it. Many women historically have been pressured because the history of the world has unfortunately not been so fair or kind to women. Women have always had to fight for equal rights....and we can find many examles of women who are sexually abused. We rarely see cases of teenage males being sexually abused by a woman.

So, as someone who does a lot of work with courts I could certainly see and have seen women pressured to do things...and I don't think any of us believe for a minute that this boy was pressured.

In my high school, an 18 year old senior girl married a 37 year old teacher 4 weeks after she graduated. Teenagers make bad decisions. Without this guy, she probably would have gone to college and met someone her own age. I'm not saying that an extreme age difference is always bad, but kids should not be preyed on by older adults at a vulnerable age.

What the heck is wrong with there people? I'm a teacher, and the mere thought of my students as sexual beings gives me the heebie jeebies. I like to imagine them all as Barbie and Ken dolls, with no desires or equipment. They're children, I'm an adult. We have nothing in common. That's about it.
