www.nypost.com:

Former movie star Ali MacGraw says she regrets not getting alimony from any of her three ex-husbands, including producing legend Robert Evans and late screen icon Steve McQueen. "I had a romantic, 'Aren't I a good girl?' take on divorce, but the truth is that was stupid,' " she tells Town & Country in its February cover story.

I was born in New Mexico and make my annual pilgrimage to Santa Fe in the fall where my roots go back to 1598 to the Oñate Expedition, the last of the Conquistadors.

Santa Fe is expensive but it's also a very cool town and totally unique. Nothing like it anywhere in the US.

Got to have my green chile fix. Red is wonderful too. If one is a native New Mexican, chile is in your blood. And not that crap that Texans eat......chili. We eat it without screwing up this food of the gods by adding oregano, cumin or tomatoes to it, for crying out loud.

Poor, beautiful, rich girl, should have stolen more of the evil men's money? Huh? Why are women entitled to what they did not work for? Or was she a prostitute?

Didn't she make a lot of money herself? Look at all the movies she starred in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_McGraw . In today's world, you make your own money!

This keeps women as the weaker sex, expecting men to support them. I can't imagine relying on a man to pay my way.

What....she couldn't get an education & go to work at a real job after all the divorces??
I've been in Santa Fe many times, and it's not a cheap place to live, but she seems to manage.
Sounds like it was totally her decision to leave Hollywood & her acting career.

Is there any point to any of what you just said? What are you getting it? Are you saying that it was her decision to leave Hollywood she shouldn't have gotten alimony?

"...go to work and get a real job."

Seems pretty clear to me. What aren't you getting? That women should work after marriage like everyone else?

That youthful, perky beauty that wealthy men are thrilled to support simply does not last.

When a marriage is over -- it's over. You shouldn't be able to pick and choose what parts of it you get to keep.

Imagine if a woman was ordered by a court to have to continue cooking her ex-husband dinner every night or whatever. It's ludicrous.

If you don't want to be poor if your marriage ends then don't make the free choice to stop working just because someone else might be able to pick up your expenses.

When my wife and I split, I was unemployed due to layoffs. She worked for the county and was making $3,500/mo. Up until I was laid off I had always paid ALL of our household expenses. She never paid for anything. You should have heard her squeal like a stuck pig when the judge ordered her to pay me $25.00/mo. spousal support. Which she never paid one dime of it. A man that did that would be put in jail.

And here we have it. Proof to all you men out there who were complaining that it's unfair that you have to pay alimony or child support. The only reason you're paying is because your wife gave up so much during the marriage. Here we have a guy who wasn't making any money, and instead the wife was making all the money, and so she was ordered to pay alimony!

Ali used to be my girl when she was in the movies; we can see that she, like most of the Hollywood stars are illusions. Nothing about those suckers (other than major issues) is real. Judging by the lack of response to her statement, I think people are appalled at her mentality. What she should have said, was, "My biggest regret was getting re-married and actually thinking that I could find happiness with a Hollywood type. I still don’t understand why a man or a woman should be taken care of, after the children are grown, for the rest of their lives following a divorce.

Men never stay....get the Alimony, girls.
01:29 AM on 01/07/2012
No, Steve McQueen didn't stay. He died of cancer.
"Get the alimony , girls" That sounds suspiciously like a woman selling her body. What's that called? Pros, prost, oh yeah, prostitution.

Hello , huffpo fill it out .

Nobody that lives in and owns a house in Santa Fe is poor. She just wants someone else to be paying her bills.

She gets alimony because the law allows for it. Some people are unbelievably irresponsible. They enter into a marriage knowing full well that they might get divorced, and that they get divorced they will have to pay alimony or child support, but still, afterwards, they whine and complain that it's not fair. You entered into the agreement, you should live up to the agreement.

I did . My pre-nup was invalid and I could have taken him to the cleaners , I lived up to the pre-nup 20 grand instead of 2 mill.
And he cheated ,

You can't enter into indentured servitude. There is no consideration in alimony. It is not mandated by law, but enacted at the judge's discretion. If it were a legal contract, payment would end when the marriage was over.
