'Community' Not Canceled, Will Return To NBC, Premiere Date Not Yet Set, Season 4 Not Confirmed

Rejoice, Human Beings! "Community" will return to the NBC schedule sometime in the spring.

"'Community' has not been canceled," said NBC Entertainment chief Bob Greenblatt at the Television Critics Association 2012 winter press tour. "It will definitely be back in the spring," he added, according to a tweet from TV Guide.

Since NBC unveiled its midseason lineup in mid-November, there's been much speculation as to the fate of the critically acclaimed cult favorite. However, Greenblatt expressed his interest in seeing how another sitcom would fare in the quirky comedy's tricky 8 p.m. EST time slot.

According to the peacock network's chief, they're still trying to figure out where "Community" makes the most sense, and at this time, he does not know anything about a fourth season for the show.

Even though the struggling comedy's fate still remains at the hands of Greenblatt, it's not going down without a fight. Its fan base may be small, but it's fiercely loyal.

"Our fan base is mighty, thank God, and I think most of them are young, because no one appointment views the show, and I feel like, if they figure out a way to measure that and keep it all together, then our ratings might go up," Joel McHale told The Huffington Post before the Season 3 premiere. "But thank God the fans love the show. Hopefully it will keep us on the air, we'll see. I think if we get through this third season, we'll be okay -- oh, who the hell knows."

I watch community OnDemand... please don't take it from us!

I am so in LOVE with Community! I watch online, period. I have no "TV" and wish my viewing habits mattered more to the powers that be! I watch Hulu, or go right to NBC.com so they get the "hit" from Google. I make sure to watch on the site if they offer full episodes, and yes, I still have to watch commercials!!! If NBC is not willing to take the risk on Community, maybe Netflix or HuluPresents could pick it up. They are moving in the direction of creating their own content, Lilyhammer and a new season of Arrested Development for Netflix.

Just an observation...

i'm from australia and been following community recently and fallen in love with it. i only hope that if nbc do want to cut it (please forbid this), that it'd bring it back for a fourth and final season - 22 episodes with an epic finale. #sixseasonsandamovie #anniexabed

I love commmunity, please keep more episodes coming, they’re dean-effitly the funniest thing on tv since the knights of prosperity or the first 3 seasons of the simpsons, but I’m not doing it justice, here are some examples :
from the first season’s paintball episode, annie pops out of a men’s room trashcan to surprise someone with the lid stuck to her head like a hat, and she’s covered in toilet paper and doesn’t flinch from her sneak attack pose (hilarious!)

In season two’s episode entitled Conspiracy theories and interior design , Jeff takes a trip into the rabbit hole figuratively and you the viewer are taken along for the ride (mysterious!)

In season three’s competitive ecology, the group blatantly insults todd while he is right there with him , (nefarious!)

and in season 1′s environmental science, dean pelton makes a mistake and insists on throwing out 5000 environmental conscientious type posters so they can print 5000 correct ones because it’s “green weekâ€
(ignoramus!)

Love Community! Clever and hilarious. Too bad there isn't a network for smart shows.

NBC has dropped the ball on this one. If Community does get canceled, I hope IFC, USA, or one of the cable networks gives it life again.

No doubt the smartest comedy on network TV. Therefore, it is doomed. So glad to hear it will be bn; although, I didn't expect it to run too long if only becasue of potential break-out stars like Allison Brie.

You can NEVER have too much Alison Brie. The whole cast is amazing too, glad to see it come back - now hopefully it stays!
