Elin Nordegren Demolishes House: Tiger's Ex-wife Building New Home In Florida

NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. — The oceanfront mansion Tiger Woods' ex-wife purchased for $12.3 million has been demolished and she is planning to build a new home.

The Palm Beach Post ( ) reports that Elin Nordegren (EE'-lihn NOHRD'-grihn) plans to build on the North Palm Beach lot she bought last year. The lot is about 140 miles southeast of Woods' home in Orlando. http://bit.ly/Avza2Z

The newspaper reports the mansion that was demolished was a two-story, 17,000-square-foot-home built in 1932. It had a swimming pool and an elevator.

Realtor John True of Oceanfront Realty says the lot is in the Seminole Landing development, among the most exclusive in Palm Beach County.

Nordegren divorced Woods in 2010 after learning he had a string of affairs during their five-year marriage. They share custody of the couple's two children.

You don't know what drove that man to cheat, but know this...ANYONE cheating is going out of the relationship to get something they are not getting inside of it. Tiger gave up his wife, children, home so that he could have sex with skanky porn stars, hookers and coctail waitresses. He lost approximate $79 million a year in endorsements. He has won one golf event, a non PGA sanctioned event in the last 3 years yet he has kept that swagger that he had and doesn not act like he was in any way responsible for any of this. Amazing.

She should have done what another Florida homeowner who wanted to get rid of an enormous mansion did: call the movie studios. The mansion blown up in "Bad Boys II" (yes, I admit that I have seen it) had recently been purchased by a real estate developer who was going to subdivide the lot and build three smaller mansions, for a considerable profit. Blowing up the original mansion by a movie studio spared him the cost of demolition.

Nordegren gave Habitat for Humanity four weeks to methodically go through the structure and salvage tens of thousands of dollars worth of cabinets, hardware and fixtures, discovering termite and carpenter-ant infestations in the process.

"When we pulled out the windows, the bugs were everywhere," Bobbi Blodgett, Habitat's director of deconstruction, was quoted as saying.

"To rebuild that house would have been ridiculous. We're so grateful to Elin. It's rare we get
this kind of donation," Blodgett said.

"Elin could have had a garage sale and made a lot of money. But she wanted everything to go to
charity," Reedy was quoted as saying. (ANI)

"It wasn't built to the South Florida wind-loading codes of today that were put in place because of hurricanes," People magazine quoted Dan Reedy of Onshore Construction and Development as saying.

"We had an architect and a structural engineer out here and everyone agreed that it made more sense - structurally and economically - to tear it down and start over," he said.

I'm glad to hear that she did that. I was disappointed when I read the article because as an environmentalist, it seemed like such a waste not to salvage whatever they could. Also a 5280 sq foot house well bigger then average is hardly huge. The average home built today is over 2200 sq feet.

You should see Tom Brady and his wifes home in LA, its about 22,000 sq feet.

How does someone demolish beautiful architecture just because they want to build something new? Wealth and celebrity produce diseases that are incurable and one of them is no value whatsoever for someone else's labors. People took the time to build that home, it's art. It's like knifing a painting,people only do that out of anger or jealousy. Elin is allowing her anger to direct her behavior and that is the saddest part of all. No one who is healthy and healed would simply bulldoze a gorgeous structure, that's for sick uncaring minds and hearts.
