Movie On-Screen Couples: Rupert Grint, Emma Watson The Biggest Earners

Ron Weasley may have skirted along the poverty line during childhood, but his children are going to be quite comfortable with their inheritance.

Forbes Magazine, in conjunction with Hollywood money site Box Office Mojo, has compiled a list of the top-earning on-screen couples of the past half decade. Though they were in a love-hate relationship for much of the film series, Ron and Hermoine's fateful kiss and bliss-filled epilogue in the final Potter film put them at the top of the list.

The final four Potter films, released between 2007 and 2011, took in $4.2 billion worldwide, including a staggering $1.33 billion for this summer's finale. The series' massive success helped make Watson Hollywood's highest earning actress in 2009, as she took in $30 million in advance for the final two films.

Coming in second on the list are another YA adaptation couple, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Their four "Twilight" films thus far have taken in $2.5 billion worldwide, and they have another to go this summer.

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox came in third for their first two "Transformers" films, with $1.5 billion. Fox did not appear in the third film, which took in $1.2 billion worldwide.

Looking ahead, the three planned adaptations of "The Hunger Games" novels by Suzanne Collins -- yet another YA-based romance -- will look to crack this list over the next few years. Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, it's a dystopian book with a love story between two contestants in a barbaric battle to the death.

No, do charitable things with it; that way, they know exactly where the money is going.

These soap opera movies are beginning to annoy me. First "Harry Potter" then "twilight". Just put these dudes on a daytime soap until it saturates itself.

If they're going to put up Ron and Hermione, shouldn't they have Harry and Ginny in there too? I know Bonnie Wright didn't get the same $$$ as the other three but she was in all 8 films and everyone knows Harry and Ginny got together in book 6 and sealed the deal in book 7. Like many have said the 'couple' deal had NOTHING to do with $$$ of the movie and while I think the acting--especially Radcliffe--was extremely good in the last few films, that's not what most people went for. The same is true of the Twilight couple--it had nothing to do about the actors, you could have had CG actors in there and the films still would have made big cash. But then early Jan is dead for movie premieres so I guess they have to invent topics to write about.

Tom Hanks' (as if early last year) films have raked in nearly $4 billion over his career. That isn't including television, directing, producing, etc. A much more impressive record.......and actor......if you ask me.

Just one question did you see any of these high paid actors in the Rose Bowl Parade? No niether did I.............years back John Wayne, Bob Hope, and a star studded cast of Actors used to support Hollywood and Pasadena in the Parade. That showed a lot of class!

EVERYBODY is entitled to complain about taxes: the country is run VERY BADLY 7 TOO much of our $ is wasted on the military BS & give aways in return for them snigering at us behind our back. I've been to Europe. They think we are STUPID & one Big JOKE. They are only TOO right. We could not take care of the Katrina victims. N.O. is still a WRECK !! The $ was going towards Afghans & Iraq. Neither country is anything to brag about & we are MUCH the poorer for it. Let those people fight their own battles. Libya & other ME countries have done it. We need to take care of ourselves. I hope the sit ins & marches increase & become SO big REAL changes take place. The pepper spraying of people who are defenseless, tied up, not resisting & on the ground MUST STOP. I saw it. DISGUSTING. Sure, there are much worse countries. THAT does not excuse what our government is doing & allowing to be done to US.

And what does this have to do with the story of the highest paid on screen couples???????
07:15 PM on 01/07/2012
Not only that--but you never hear about these multi-quadrillionaire actors (I know that's an exaggeration before you comment back), who always are "championed" to their opinions. Just because they make alot of money, and people swoon and idolize them, doesn't mean they know squat about anything--but they sure do get an following on liberal opinion they have. Hey here's an idea--quit going to movies and buy your kids some shoes.

If you read the whole article CAREFULLY it said they should not complain about their taxes. My comment was about complaining about taxes. If you missed the connection it boosts my observations on other comment pages about how many Americans dont graduate HS & that the average IQ in the US is 100. Oi Veh !!

I think Hollywood is missing out by not using LeBeoufs co star in "HOLES".

What the headline should really read is "Harry Potter made a boatload of money." This really has little to do with "onscreen couples."

Exactly. The chemistry between those two is non-existant. People didn't go to see those movies for the acting.

Perhaps you did not notice that the acting of Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, David Thewliss and other supporting actors was simply first-rate. The HP movies had a host of Britain's best and most distinguished actors. Just watching Rickman and Oldman was a joy. The three young leads were relatively inexperienced but grew in their roles.

However, these are good kids, stay out of trouble and are pretty classy. I like to see people who work hard, and are respectable, have success.

Just give them some time--very few ever make it thru life without self destructing.

People go to movies and then complain that they made so much money Just don't go stay home listen to the radio no cable bill then either
07:19 PM on 01/07/2012
Faved--Why of course not--they have to compare themselves to something.

Unlike many of you, I apparently don't spend all of my time in front of my television set or renting movies made by little celebrities who are rolling in dough while you people are sitting down YOUR basements watching their movies. Just doesn't interest me. Another thing that I find annoying is when someone makes a simple statement here, and the baiters are all over them in a flash. I merely stated I had no idea who these people were (the guy looks like a total nerd) and every little tween, teen, and 20-something fool jumped down my throat. Apparently all you have time to do is chide, be rude, and bully here (your stock and trade) and watch your television set. So sad you don't seem to do much else.

Good for them. They were important parts of a highly successful enterprise. I just hope they don't complain about their taxes.

I'm sure this'll encourage more parents to send their kids on auditions. For every child actor who successfully makes the transition into adulthood, there are plenty of Lindsay Lohans.
