The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) dismissed an alternate online piracy bill from Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Wednesday, arguing it is not a "meaningful solution" to the problem of online piracy.

I've listened to a few opponent/proponent interviews on NPR about SOPA. The anti-SOPA interviewees mostly fail to argue their case very well to the point that my opposition to SOPA is wavering. They need to get much better spokesmen.

To detect file sharing the content of a stream has to be inspected using for instance DPI (deep packet inspection). With the conventional snail mail at least some measure of privacy has been protected, but measures advocated by SOPA will eliminate any protection for privacy.

The most outlandish line in the article was "an ongoing threat to the security and safety of our citizens". Really?? They are going to go that far to try to pass this law. It may work for politicians but how is it relevant in this situation?
