Gabrielle Giffords Shooting One-Year Anniversary: Gabe Zimmerman, Slain Staffer, Honored By Colleagues

01/ 8/12 03:03 PM ET   AP

PHOENIX -- Staffers of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and hundreds of others are gathering to remember those killed a year ago, including a slain colleague.

Gabe Zimmerman was killed along with five others a year ago Sunday in an attack on the congresswoman in Tucson.

Hundreds of people, including Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, packed the massive St. Augustine Cathedral for an interfaith service in Tucson to remember the shooting.

Ron Barber, a Giffords staffer who survived two gunshot wounds, says he spent time with Giffords on Friday and Saturday, mostly reflecting about Zimmerman's life.

Daniel Hernandez, Giffords' former intern who came to her aid after the shooting, called Sunday a solemn day of remembrance and an opportunity to allow Tucson and those affected by the shooting heal further.

Um, HP?
The headline reads "Gifford Staffer Honored by Slain Colleagues."
I'm wondering exactly how people who aren't living can honor anyone? (Or at least in ways we know about it...)

I was wondering about that too...

Dead people do all kinds of things they never get credit for. It is about time the media recognize this under-appreciated segment of society ; )

I am happy to see Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and all those who survived the shootings. I praise the medical teams that attended to them.
May the souls of those who died in the shootings rest in peace.
