Tim Tebow, Broncos Locker Room Celebration After Beating Steelers In Overtime (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/09/12 12:41 AM ET Updated: 01/09/12 08:59 AM ET

A few days before the Denver Broncos hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC Wild Card playoff game, Broncos V.P. of football operations John Elway said that quarterback Tim Tebow needs to "pull the trigger" rather than playing too conservative. Tebow agreed. And then, when it mattered most, he threw an 80-yard walk-off touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the first play of overtime.

While Broncos celebrated in the locker room with big laughs and deep sighs -- one coming from head coach John Fox when he entered the room saying, "Never make it easy" -- Elway shook Tebow's hand with a look of pure joy on his face as he even let out a giggle. You could tell how happy that made Tebow, who patted Elway on the back as he walked away.

After hugging Tebow one more time, Fox went into his postgame speech.

"Thanks for keeping me back at my job for another week," he joked. "Hey men in all seriousness, people said you couldn't, people said you can't, and you did. I'm proud of you for that. It took a lot of guts. A lot of heart. A lot of hard work. And you're going to be commended let's give yourselves a hand."

Then, Fox awarded a game ball to everyone.

Mr. Elway ... could you please tell us what you think of Tim Tebow:

"His maturity level with dealing with the pressures of what comes with playing the position (is enviable)," Elway says. "If you watch how he handles each press conference, that is truly who he is. It is not an act. It is a credit to his background and his parents. There is no question that, from where I sit, his priorities are different than those of most 24-year-olds."

I hate to see the joy of this team crushed Saturday night.
But it is written.
And it will be done.
Praise the Lord Brady and company.

Its nice to see a team of blacks and whites (if i miss a race my bad) getting along, hugging after a good win and they all seem to have respect for each other and the presence of Tebow and his prayers doesn't seem to bother them at all despite what there difference may or may not be.

That so nice for a white like yourself to say. All those segregated teams that gotta ride on different buses certainly could learn a thing or two from these guys. Everybody get in here, MELTING POT ON THREE!!

Yeah, after watching the video, it is apparent they have good relationship as a team and whether winning or losing that is what makes a team at the end of the day.

Lost in all the Tebow hype is the fact that the Broncos have a pretty good defense and if they can keep them close at the end of the game anything can happen, but if they win this one everyone in the league will probably be dropping to one knee in the future.

I wonder just HOW MUCH Ben's "injury" was bothering him that night. He certainly played the role.......different colored shoe, (although it didn't look like anything special) hobbled around most of the night, BUT, when necessary, took off running without much indication he was hurt. We know players feign injury in these games......remember the big to do about the Giants falling down acting hurt. Sure, Ben got injured a couple games back........but I think it was being overplayed. Coaches and trainers know the "real" status of players.

He was hurt. The different coloured shoe was a size too big to cover the swelling. If you saw him run into the tunnel at the end of the half, he was hurt. Trying to make it look like he was fine but he was feeling it. The scrambling and running started after the half. They gave his ankle a shot of something in the locker room for sure. Ben is a lot of things, but he isn't a whiner and he wouldn't fake an injury; he's a gamer and he plays hard to win, can't see him feigning injury.

It was a good win but they're going to have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to win next week I fear. But you know what they say, "any given Sunday"......

OK, OK Tebow rocks (coming from an FSU fan).

But let's give 70% of the credit to Damaryius, my fellow UCF alum. He SMOKED those corners!!

We got game in FL. Good thing for CO!

They misstated that. Demaryius Thomas didn't go to UCF. He went to Georgia Tech. He does deserve credit for a great performance, though.

Go BRONCOS!! So good to see John Elway supporting the team, they are lucky to have him there!!! He is a legend, made history in football and a great human being!! I sold cars for him back in the late 90's in Colorado for a time, did not even know who he was at the time, but he ended up winning the Superbowl that year and then I realized. His office was upstairs in the Toyota Dealership I worked for in Englewood, Co. and so I got to meet him there, he was amused at my not knowing who he was. He will help lead these players to where he is now, if they will listen to him and follow!!! He is a true professional!!
