Bill Clinton's Food Habits Revealed By Former White House Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier

Former White House Cook Dishes Dirt On Clintons' Eating Habits

For several years now, Bill Clinton has been an unlikely hero in certain segments of America's vegan and vegetarian populations. He's slowly given up eating any animal products since undergoing quadruple bypass heart surgery in 2004, becoming, in the process, probably the most famous vegan in the world.

But for years before that transition, he was known as highly enthusiastic eater of all sorts of unhealthy foods; he was known for gorging on McDonald's and fried chicken when he was out of the White House. And Friday, a Washingtonian interview with former White House pastry chef Roland Mesnier showed that Clinton was just as happy being gluttonous at home as he was chowing down in restaurants.

According to Mesnier, White House chefs knew that Clinton would down "five or six pork chops" at a fairly typical dinner. And the President, despite allergies to flour and chocolate, was an especially avid eater of cake. Mesnier told the Washingtonian that he once baked a strawberry cake that the POTUS ate half of in one sitting -- only to demand more the very next morning.

That makes even the Obamas' most decadent meals sound tame by comparison.
