Meghan McCain: The Obamas Deserve An 'Emoticon' Of Privacy (VIDEO)

MSNBC contributor Meghan McCain appeared on Alex Wagner's show "Now" on Monday, and used a bizarre word to describe what she believed was the President and Mrs. Obama's right to privacy.

The panel was discussing "The Obamas," a new book by The New York Times' Jodi Kantor, which details the apparent friction between Mrs. Obama and members of the President's cabinet, including former Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

McCain seemed to be defending the Obamas right to privacy, and took issue with the fact that the book was published while the Obamas were still in the White House. "I have no problem with this type of thing being written if they were out of office," McCain said. She then said not once, but twice, that the Obamas deserved "a small emoticon of privacy."

Though she did say the word twice, it's unclear if McCain meant to say "emoticon" to describe a small amount of privacy to which the Obamas are entitled.

McCain has served as an outspoken panelist on MSNBC's "Now." Last week, McCain criticized GOP candidate Rick Santorum for what she called his "outdated" and "gross" opposition towards same-sex marriage.

When will everybody finally accept and agree that MSNBC is no more, no less, than a PAC for President Obama? Just as Fox News is a PAC against Obama?

Meghan, I'm a Liberal Dem, but I hope your kind of Republicanism catches on and takes us back to a reasonable country,. I have a lot of respect for you young lady, even if we don't agree on everything, you have class! And I don't mind saying it!

Surely she meant 'modicum'... although the Obama's do not deserve that either.

This nepotic mindless vacuous waste now has at least 8 'video' "NEWS STORIES" on Huff and Puff.
You've made the point.... she has NO CLUE what 'news' is about.
STOP... or you will prove H&P does not either!

She reminds me of a puppy I once had, who was adorable, but constantly barked for attention. After getting her spayed and working with her daily, she finally broke the habit.

Too bad for you but reasonable young people will soon take over the Teapublican lo*ons and bring back a party that most people can at least respect, even if they disagree. I have NO respect for the baggers that hijacked the Rep. party but Meghan at least demonstrates class and a reasonableness that is sorely lacking by these Right wing fanatics.

Last night on NH primary coverage, Chuck Todd used the word "variate" instead of "vary": That response will variate from one area of New Hampshire to another." How many times have we heard tv people say, "Between you and I"? Almost all the sportscasters say that, thinking they are being grammatically careful.

Almost as inane as people who insist in expanding the syllables of 'oriented' in 'orientated'.

The word she was probably looking for is "modicum."

You should write about people that say "off ten" rather than "off en" when trying to pronounce often. That would be a bigger issue.
12:26 PM on 01/11/2012
I always say if you don't know how to pronounce a word, know the meaning of certain big words or the context of when to use them; DON'T DO IT!!! Or else you come off sounding like this, then people stop listening to you and all they can think about is how you mucked up the word.
