I love republicans talking about taking things out of context.lol

Personally, I don't disagree with what Romney said. That's how the free market works. If someone fails to provide a service to you, you fire them.

That being said, it was a stupid thing to say politically. He should have phrased it differently. If he makes it to the general election, we're never gonna hear the end of it, and it's going to help in painting Romney as an elitist rich guy, which has been the Dem plan all along IMO.

I can see it now, the DNC/Obama run an add and only play the little part where he says I like to be able to fire people.....then Romney releases and ad saying here is what i really said and in that ad asks Obama to start telling the truth.

Recall, that was a tirck Grayson tried in his race down in FL...where he took soemthing the toher guy said mid sentence, chopped it out and made ads with it...and then the R released ads saying here is what I actaully said...and from that point it was downhill for Grayson.

Strategically Romney owuld like O to use that clip, I doubt they will though.

Although when it comes to taking things out of context, Romney has no room to talk whatsoever. He should have never made that ad where Obama was quoting McCain and he tried to pass it off as Obama's words. Hypocrisy all around,
04:45 PM on 01/09/2012
Oh yeah, and it's not just the DNC that are going after Romney over this. On his website, Rick Perry is now selling a ring tone that has Mitt Romney saying "I like to fire people" on repeat. He's offering it for $22, "the percentage of companies Romney sent into bankruptcy," according to his website.

Stillow,

You're totally missing the point. I don't care that he said it (Lord knows I have fired people before), but it was a stupid thing for him to say. He's just helping play into the narrative that he's an aloof snob who has never had to struggle... Not exactly the best narrative in this environment.
04:20 PM on 01/09/2012
I just totally disagree. all he said was say something 99.9 percent of Americans beelive. If you just snip out one little tiny piece and don't paly the rest then your point is valid....but you can do that to anyone and with anything!
02:40 PM on 01/09/2012
If Romney gets around 30% in NH or wins by less than 10 percent, it will be hard to spin as a victory. The momentum and media narrative will turn against him heading to SC.

In all honesty I don't REALLY believe Romney enjoys firing people or having some god-given RIGHT TO FIRE people was somehow in dispute. He was on auto-pilot and what he said came out weird and it is just a clip that will be used to propagate his character by Democrats. That's politics baby. Live with it. I doubt Obama thinks there are 57 states in the union as well but we keep hearing that joke.

I commend your post here. it took big grumbas to admit your lower posts were in error. IMO the point is now settled. I make my hsare of dopy comments too....

Just to put an end to the lies here from X and lat...here is Romney's actual quote.

"It also means if you don't like what they do,You can fire them. I like being able to fire people who provide services to me, if if ya know, someone doesn't give me the good service I need, I want to say, you know, I'm going to go get somebody else to provide that service to me.

So wow x and lat....Romney feels pretty much like the 300+ million people in the country! Maybe you guys are the only two who like getting bad service and would keep doing so just so you can avoid firing them for that bad service, but something tells me you two are in the "extreme" minority on this one.
01:56 PM on 01/09/2012
So I guess the simple question X and lat is this.........

Do you like "BEING ABLE" to fire people who provide you with bad service? A yes or no answer please.

I try not to play gotcha here, but in this case......sorry, but, GOTCHA!

Unfortunately Stillow it IS all bout the spin despite your "right-by-association fallacy". Romney is your ruthless heartless boss that isn't sad to see you go but is actually enjoying the fact he has had this terrible experience and he gets to make someone else miserable for it. I'm convinced it wasn't even tongue-and-cheek of Romney to say that given how matter of fact he is about it. The guy is bizarre.
02:01 PM on 01/09/2012
Keep trying...I gave you his FULL quote in context...and he feels EXACTLY like 99.9 percent of Americans who like being able to fire those who provide bad service.....

Seriously on this one, you should just stop replying because you are totally embarrassing yourself on this one.....because he full quote makes your argument look silly!
02:03 PM on 01/09/2012
I also noticed you could not answer yes or no to my question........

Wow! The DNC has Mitt Romney on video saying "I like firing people". Way to go Mitt that's sure going to endear you to the people struggling for jobs. I have been saying all along that Romney is a great opponent for Obama. As each day passes that looks more and more true.

I actually believe this to be the REAL Romney and not the 14 other versions of him. When it comes down to it he's just a rich financier that only shored up the money for someone else's great idea. He's your rich boss that apparently is so pretentious that he's practically wearing a monocle like the Monopoly Man.
01:29 PM on 01/09/2012
Ummm, do we not all like being able to fire people? if you had a gardener who didn't kno whow to use a mower would you not fire him andreplace him?

These little out of context tricks from the left are just laughable IMO....I get a kick out of them.

No we do not all LIKE firing people. It may be necessary sometimes but I don't get some sort of sick thrill out of it like it was the thing that got me up in the morning.
