Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area is located just outside Laramie, Wyoming, and features something for all ages. Skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers are drawn to the resort for recreation and breathtaking views of Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. With trails for all skill levels from beginner to expert, Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area is a budget- and family-friendly ski destination.
With an annual snowfall of 250 inches and 75 percent snowmaking capabilities, Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area has powder through most of the season. The mountain has an elevation of 10,000 feet with a 1,000-foot vertical drop. Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area boasts a 1.8-mile trail. The resort is generally open from November through April.
Trails And Lifts
Of the 27 trails at Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area, 12 are for intermediate skiers. The remaining 15 are divided almost evenly between beginner and expert trails. Skiers can access the top of the mountain on one of five lifts, including one magic carpet, three double chairs and one triple chair. Snowy Range's terrain park offers freestyle skiers and snowboarders a place to practice tricks and manuevers. The terrain park is designed for all ages and abilities.

Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area boasts snowshoe tours through the area's national park, offering stunning views of the location and providing families with a fun alternative activity during the winter. The tours last for one to two hours and are easy enough for most people. In 2011, ownership of the resort changed, which was good news for patrons of the terrain park. The new owners enhanced the area with more equipment, making it more versatile and appealing to a larger group of skiers and snowboarders.
A basic lift ticket at Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area costs $39 for adults, $34 for teens, $24 for children older than 5 and seniors older than 70. Children younger than 5 are free. Season passes to Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area range from $159 to $350. Group rates also are available. Lessons at the resort start at $40 and go up to $110, depending on the type of lesson and its length. Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area offers rentals that cost $15 to $60, depending on the type of gear rented and the duration of the rental.
Many Laramie dining and lodging establishments are teamed with Snowy Range Ski and Recreation Area to offer discounts and deals to skiers. Several hotels are available for overnight guests. The Bar at Snowy Range, located on-site, gives skiers a place to enjoy a drink apres-ski. Families will enjoy the resort's Moose Lick Cafe for a warm drink and a meal.
