3 Ultra-Orthodox Arrested In Suspected Pedophilia Ring In Israel

01/ 9/12 07:51 AM ET   AP

JERUSALEM -- Israeli police say three men have been arrested in a suspected pedophilia ring thought to have preyed on dozens of Jerusalem children.

Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby says the ring is suspected of molesting 70 children between the ages of 2 and 7 in their religious Jewish neighborhood.

In all, six men have been arrested, including three on Sunday. Ben-Ruby says it's not clear whether more suspects and children are involved because the investigation is not finished.

Officials familiar with the investigation said parents tried to solve the problem themselves and took months to involve police.

But Yitzhak Kadman, a children's rights advocate, says ultra-Orthodox Jews are slowly beginning to seek authorities' help instead of trying to ignore or whitewash problems inside their cloistered community.

how very disappointing that this article is disgustingly short when it should be informitively longer.
and i know that tref folks are capable of such crimes but i am endlessly angered that this ethnic group would engage in holding kids down&having their way with them, how shocking&dispicable.
and nothing can stop or prevent them, not even a judge, power of prayer,or cops can stop the criminal mishandling of kids that are daily,weekly,monthly,yearly,nationally,globally..nothing can keep it from happening.

Ultra-conservatives authoritarians of all stripes who play make-believe are very dangerous. They flock are heavily insulated from the outside world and tend to "circle the wagon" when someone tries to stand up to one of their leaders.

Each time this happens with a respected religious leader, sports coach, or Boy Scout leader, we all feel a sense of shock. The most frightening aspect is that pedophilia does not seem to be completely absent in any group of men. That is not an implication that it is widespread in all groups of men - merely, that it can appear.

and it is more likely to occur in men who seek positions of authority over children of course.

Perhaps the children were Palestinian, and some sort of spoil of war. The Judeo-Christian scripture says that is okay... Numbers 31:18: "Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. Only the young girls who are virgins may live; you may keep them for yourselves." Judges 21:11: "Completely destroy all the males and every woman who is not a virgin." Deuteronomy 20:13-14, "kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you.") I think better guidance is found in the ninth of 'The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth': "Do not harm little children." The Fifth Satanic Rule of the Earth is also pertinent, as it states: "Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal."

Religious leaders have an uncanny penchant for twistin' the WORD to suit them. One sees it all the time. I don't care whether he wears a cassock, yarmulke, robes with gold braid, or whatever. They are men first. As my maternal Grandmother used to say "A stiff d* * * has no conscience." Life.

I'm a religious leader.

Good one on your Grandmother, I will have to remember that one. My mom's wisdom on the issue is "Every man cheats." I kept telling her my husband didn't, knowing he was one in a million, but he proved her right and dumped me for an old girlfriend.

Wow. So sad, but your grandmother was probably right. Now, I just have to figure out how to teach this to my girls, without using the profanity, LOL.

Since god is supposedly omnipresent and all-knowing, he must be aware of this - therefore in legal terms he must be an accomplice after the fact!

Erm - WHY arn't they doing it ULTRA FAST? :-

"But Yitzhak Kadman, a children's rights advocate, says ultra-Orthodox Jews are SLOWLY beginning to seek authorities' help instead of trying to ignore or whitewash problems inside their cloistered community"

And why, arn't the police storming the organisations (vatican, churches, mosques and temples) as they would if the abuse were being carried out and being covered up by say, a hospital or a doctor.

It is bad enough that superstition is State-sponsored, but by not properly investigating these crimes just because it is done by religion is akin to the State also being responsible for paedophilia.

What irony that it would be Ultra-Orthodox Jews arrested in a child molestation ring bust considerinrg how they treat members of the opposite sex.
02:37 PM on 01/10/2012
I'm really stunned that Huffpost's posting policy doesn't allow me to criticize this religion by stating that sex with three year olds is "sick", a personal criticism, yet as a Truther I was slurred something awful here.

I'm wondering if anyone can explain why it was OK to bash Truthers like me with all kinds of dirty slurs and lies, yet stating that sex with small children is sick, is too close to the bone to accept.

I really wonder about that sort of posting policy and I hope somebody can explain it to me. Thanks.

I tried to respond to comment but the moderator kept rejecting my response. Someone claimed that these men must be some sort of Satanists yet the Judeo-Christian Bible thinks raping little girls is okay. (Numbers 31:18: "Now kill all the boys and all the women who have slept with a man. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you.") Meanwhile, the ninth of 'The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth' clearly states, "Do not harm little children." It appears that the HuffPost is afraid of scripture. But it makes sense since scripture like this IS scary. Say what you will about the Church of Satan but at least their scripture says things succinctly and clearly. (The Christian Bible is just too damn long for its own good) And, unlike Christianity, Satanists are anti-rape. The Fifth Satanic Rule of the Earth is "Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal."

It's not a human per se, at least not most of the time. The computer program set up to monitor has a way of denying posts hat contain certain "buzz words" I assume. I've had instances where whatever I posted in a 24 hour period never made, no matter how simple. Don't take it personally, I had to learn not to as well.

AlterNet respects my freedom of religion and speech much better than Huffpost. I think that is the American/European difference. Americans are more committed to religious freedom including the freedom to say whatever you want.

I am very glad I am a Native American. I hope you can respect that.

Pedophillia I think exists because people like to think they are so powerful that they can do whatever they want. They use children because they are innocent and doing things with them feeds their ego that no law which exists can touch them. I really think it goes even further towards satanism which is known to use children in sick ritualistic ways. There are thousands of children who go missing worldwide and you have to wonder how this happens and where these children go? Its so sad that we live in a world with such wicked people.
08:38 AM on 01/10/2012
Why is there no laws against pedophillia? That is a huge question that needs to be answered? And one does know even written in the Bible, Yah says himself satan is the god of this world.
02:24 PM on 01/10/2012
I think it must be an accepted practice in a lot of places. It was not actually against the law in the United States until shockingly recently. Police considered it a family affair and stayed out of it. A man's home is his castle, that sort of thing.

The reason people did not report it is out of fear since the Rabbi's have so much control over society in Israel. The same type of fear was done by preists who used their position to dominate the thoughts of children. The same is done by alot of wealthy people who also use their position of power to scare children into silence. What these people don't know is that God sees and hears everything and he will avenge their wickedness in the next life. So just because they think they are getting away with it now they will find out God will have the last word on their evil acts.
05:51 AM on 01/11/2012
I think children who have been abused and taught by their abuser to never tell, have the same problem with telling when it is their own children who are being abused. It hits nerves in them they can not deal with.

This is a suspicion of mine based on observation, I don't know for sure as it has not been confirmed.

Re: "...This is a suspicion of mine based on observation, I don't know for sure as it has not been confirmed..." {Sister Lauren}

...Been there...Experienced that.

I attended a remembrance-mass for my mum, who died some months ago...W/o getting 2-graphic, she literally SAW the ‘dirty laundry’ left after her nephew had his ‘fun’, now some 45+ years past...
my dad was, (like Mr. Ratzinger & others), physically present/cerebrally absent.

A few months before Alzheimer’s took her ‘awareness’, I found out she'd left J.R., (his initials, in case he reads this), an $-inheritance, which adds to the hassle, in relating to others, (sexually & otherwise), that I've wrestled with all-my-life!
Crime pays; or it has, thus far…!

I’m vasectomized for a lot of reasons, including avoiding the possibility that, (post 'badgering'), I might’ve relented/allowed my Parental_Units unsupervised &/or overnight visits.

I can imagine how, under other circumstances, it would be tempting to ‘let the G.P.’s have ‘em for the weekend’, etc.
I agree: There is NO moral difference, and there should be NO legal difference, between someone who acts like that Penn state coach, (or one of Ratzinger’s beasts), and the assistant coach who didn’t call 911, immediately before/during/after witnessing (or ‘whatever’) Sandusky’s shower-interlude!

I also feel that ‘lunch’, in the form of knuckle-sandwich(s), on a side of 'crisp' baseball bat(s) is indicted, (…within ‘reason’), P.R.N.
