Woman Lives In Death Trap On 'Hoarding: Buried Alive' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 01/09/12 06:24 AM ET Updated: 01/09/12 09:28 AM ET

Hsi Ming's daughter fears that her mom's house is a potential death trap, and as Hsi Ming gave a tour of the over-stuffed, filthy home on "Hoarding: Buried Alive" (Sun., 9 p.m. EST on TLC) it became abundantly clear that her daughter was right to worry.

Not only was the extreme hoarder's home infested with rats, but it was also full of fire hazards: smoke alarms with no batteries, exits blocked, rooms so packed with piles of junk that she couldn't walk through them.

Hsi Ming has adapted to her living conditions, but even she acknowledged that her home was dangerous. Looking around she admitted that she didn't know how she'd get out if there was a fire.

Watch more "Hoarding: Buried Alive" on Sundays, 9 p.m. EST on TLC.

My X husband is a hoader. He had a reason for keeping everything he kept. Our backyard was full of rats that ran our 2 Doberman's away. He also paid for a storage to keep trash and junk!

I watched this show twice, and I couldnt watch it anymore. These people need serious psychiatric help because cleaning up a house or calling the health inspector is not going to help them!!

iS THE Board OF hEALTH ABLE TO GO IN THERE AND CONDEMN IT AND force HER TO FIND SUITABLE HOUSING? nO USE CLEANING IT UP AND MOVING BACK IN. We ALL know what'll happen after that. Is there some medicine for these obsessive compulsive type of people to help control their saving of everything?

I think the woman is just right down lazy & nasty to live in a dump like that.

Hoarding is a sign of insecurity, laziness and a person who lives in a state of fear. How can anyone live like this, I just can't imagine?

Sadly sickening. And what's worse is that when you watch these shows - most of them that I've
seen, anyway -- the hoarders become angry and indignant when anyone tries to help. They are
too far gone to recognize any warning signs or to be grateful that some people actually want to
help. So -- the hell with them. The rats can have 'em.

I am an avid horror movie fan. However, watching these shows on hoarding is scarier than any fictional horror movie. I fear for these people, not only because of the physical conditions of their homes but what may be their mental states. I believe that the hoarding is a manifestation of much deeper mental or emotional problems. The living environments need cleaning but the hoarders also need treatment.

I used to watch this show but i found myself getting upset with he persons and their unwillingness to see THEIR ways and unwilling to do something about it. I finally realized this was not my concern and I was getting upset over a television show, so I no longer watch it. I also seem to remember the persons in this show not changing. I think the show was titled "Hoarders" not "Hoarding: Buried Alive"
Are these two different shows?

Yes they are two different shows.

Thank You. I was not sure.

I know they say it is a disease but what I don't understand is the filth. Why would you hoard filth? Empty bottles, food containers with food in them, dirty toilet tissue on the floor, feces all over their bathrooms. I think most these people are just plain lazy and I have no patience with them. My two year old grandchild can tell the difference between things you keep and dirt.

They are mentally ill.

I shudder to think she's the one who cooks my Mongolian beef when I eat out.

On the plus side, think of all the money she saves by never washing her clothes or bedding.

You should be talking about the mother on that show also with the twins. What the heck is wrong with that father why in the heck didnt he get those kids out of there. If the mother wants to live like that then let her. Those kids should have been taken away from them.

About this chick...
Ok, um... why are you going to "smile" about how DANGEROUS your house is and prospect of KILLING YOURSELF like it is FUNNY? Seriously! "I have many death options in here: Bubonic Plague, Botullism, Crushed to death in my own junk...if I don't roast alive in a grease fire first!" The only way anybody could smile about something like that with anything remotely resemblng pride is if they were nuttier than an oak tree full of squirrels!

She seems to be the happiest hoarder yet. At least she knows that it's a death trap.Tthat's half the battle delaing with it ... eventually.
