Facebook: 89 Percent Of Nonprofits Have A Facebook Page

How Many Nonprofits Are On Facebook?

With all that there is to "like" on Facebook -- this might top the list.

Nine out of 10, or 89 percent, of nonprofits have a Facebook presence, according to the 2011 Nonprofit Social Network Report published Monday.

But when it comes to sending out 40-character messages on Twitter, only about about 57 percent of charitable organizations are doing so, down from 60 percent in 2010.

For those who have been reluctant to delve into social media, some host several applications help users find and give to organizations.

When it comes to fundraising successfully on social media sites though, the size of the organization doesn't really matter. It's about the amount of energy the staff will pour into pushing the initiative.

"Resourcing matters a lot to get the job done if you want to fundraise successfully on social networks like Facebook, and it doesn’t matter how large or small your nonprofit," the report states. "If you manage to dedicate the budget and staff to the task even a small charity can raise $100,000 or more on Facebook."
