Christina Aguilera is no stranger to tabloid gossip, but in 2012 she's putting the past behind her and opening up about what really matters to her now.

In the February issue of Marie Claire, "The Voice" coach talks about her recent personal struggles, including her 2010 divorce, the box-office disappointment of "Burlesque," and her Super Bowl fumble in early 2011 -- which was followed by a March arrest for public intoxication.

"That was a rough year," Aguilera told the magazine. "Between my divorce and the other things I went through, a lot happened. It's hard for anyone to go through that in public. But when you're a celebrity and under a microscope, it's 58 million times harder. I grew an even thicker skin after that hard year."

These days, the singer says she just tries to block out all the negative chatter, especially when it comes to criticism about her fluctuating weight. E! "Fashion Police" correspondent Kelly Osbourne has been particularly harsh about Aguilera's recent weight gain.

"[Aguilera] called me fat for years," Osbourne said on "Fashion Police" in October. "I was never that fat," she added, referencing an unflattering photo of the singer.

Aguilera isn't denying her weight gain, but she says it's not important: all that matters to her these days is her son, Max, who turns four years old this month.

"I've been through my highs, I've been through my lows; I've been through the gamut of all things in this business. Being too thin. Being bigger. I've been criticized for being on both sides of the scale, she said, adding, "I love my body. My boyfriend loooves my body. My son is healthy and happy, so that's all that matters to me."

Aguilera also opened up about her weight while promoting "The Voice" at the Television Critics Association conference earlier this month.

"I've been on all spectrums [weight-wise], I've been in this [business] for a long time ... You can never be too much of anything," she said, according to Us Weekly. "You can never be too perfect, too thin, too curvy, voluptuous this that. I've been all sides of the spectrum as far as any female in this business."

who cares what her boyfriend thinks (I think he loves her money and lifestyle more)
clearly she needs him for validation....or something.
now perhaps she doesn't care until she feels like it.

Great cover. Yes, I can see how 2011 has been a rough year for her. Understandable.

As for this quote: ""[Aguilera] called me fat for years," Osbourne said on "Fashion Police" in October. "I was never that fat," she added, referencing an unflattering photo of the singer."

All I can say this is Osbourne got her payback. Well-timed. As far as criticizing someone's weight goes, Christina would next time do well to heed this advice - what goes around, comes around and think twice before putting someone down in public.

Before Christina Aguilera criticized Kelly Osbourne for being overweight, Kelly had been talking trash about her. The whole feud between them began back in 2003 when on national tv Kelly insulted Christina's music and said that Christina was uglier than a drag queen. If Kelly didn't want Chhristina to talk trash about her then she shouldn't have been talking trash about Christina in public. She brought it on herself.

Good for her, I mean it. In a world about self esteen issues and negative body images and unrealistic body images, it is nice to that there is at least a few decent people to use as role models in someones life. I rarely saw a negative story about Christina, unlike Britney and Paris... (much can be said for them). So why does it matter that much that she has trouble maintaining her weight and "acceptable" body image. Having those few extra pounds did not make her unhealthy or a bad person. As for you Kelly Osbourne, that last I checked, you live off of Daddy's reputation as nothing more than "his daughter" and have no real purpose in life. Also, if I remember correctly, you had to go on a diet because your weight became out of control, so who are you to judge others for their weight troubles?

A truly great voice that sounds like no other in her time. She is very attractive still. She might havehit some bumps along the way. But her career is far from over.

I think that she looks good. Healthy and pretty.

Rough Year? Really? I admire her as an artist, but its hard feeling sympathy for a celebrity who still gets millions for every "mistake" she makes. Her having a rough year is a fantastic decade for most everyone else.

After the Super Bowl flub, I remember her falling on stage during a live performance. I was like, damn girl you can't catch a break. Christina has true talent and the heck to all the naysayers like the talentless Kelly Osbourne.

I loved the movie Burlesque. All the dancing and singing is wonderful. We all gain weight as we get older so ....so what if Christina has gained some wieght. I wish I looked that good. Christina has worked hard for what she has and for that other kelly, if it were not for her mummy and daddy she would still be wearing black lipstick and dying her hair black. At least Christina has good values and knows what is important in life. I do not remember hearing negative words from her about anyone. And kelly you were fat. When my daughter was feeling down when she was a teen ager I gave her Christina's CD of beautiful and it made her feel better. I feel sorry for people who have to put down others to make themselves feel better.

Rough year. I'm relieved for you though. For a second I thought you might be on the verge of homelessness.

She is Beautiful and has an awesome voice. I'd rather be rich and fat than skinny and broke any day!

Reality check --- It's called Photo Shop. She does not look like that in person.

Ok, so you're saying she is not beautiful on a regular day? What does photo shop got to do with it?...

Amazing the sneers that I see here over nothing more than the woman gaining a few pounds. Glad to see that there's still folks willing to push unrealistic standards of weight for women. I'm sure that your daughters are thrilled by this.
