Tabletop fantasy role-play game Dungeons & Dragons has captured the imaginations of geeks and the geeky at heart since it came out in 1974, and the game is still going strong. Wizards of the Coast has announced that a new edition of D&D is on the way -- and it's going to be like nothing players have seen before.
With some former diehard D&D fans ditching the fantasy game for buzz-worthy video games like Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Call Of Duty: Black Ops, the makers of Dungeons & Dragons are turning to the fans themselves to help shape the future of the game. Mike Mearls, a lead designer for the game, stated that the new edition will incorporate the best of past editions and wil also add exciting new features to make it up-to-date and relevant.
He said: “We are 100 percent committed to giving players and DMs (dungeon masters, who run the games) ample time to play-test and provide us with their feedback."
Later this month at the Dungeons & Dragons Experience convention in Indiana (January 26-29), players will have the opportunity to test-drive the game with its new changes and to offer their input.
