The Express Tribune:

"I started a new life in Albania, I cannot return to China and the Chinese authorities will not allow my family to leave the country and come to Albania," Qassim said.

He works in a small pizzeria across the street from a technical school, something very different from the job in a leather factory that he held in China.

The Uighur detainees were caught fleeing terror training camps after the US bombed the area. Some of them denied they were getting firm arm training from Al Qaeda but others did admit to it. Their goal was never to commit terrorism in the US but some of the were clearly intent on starting terrorist cells in China. If the US is so confident about their innocence shouldn't the US take them in as a repayment for the injustices which they had suffered in Gitmo?

Google is rather easy to use.

"The 17 are Uighurs (pronounced wee-gurs) -- members of a Muslim minority that feels oppressed by Beijing. They had been living in a village in Afghanistan when the United States began its war there in 2001. They have said they fled US bombing for shelter in Pakistan"

For years Qassim hoped the US or the UN would help him to be reunited with his family in China, which he hadn't seen in 12 years.

One would have thought, given that Qassim was obviously not a "terrorist," that the US federal government could have at least tried to reunite Qassim with his family.

But then again, the federal government isn't doing much to keep homeless American families and their children together, either.
