Kate Winslet: 'You Don't Have To Be A Size 2' (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

We're perennial fans of Kate Winslet, especially her (healthy!) approach to body image.

So obviously we're loving these new St. John spring ads, featuring a stunning Kate, who became the face of St. John in April, lounging around a very Los Angeles-looking house in cozy knitwear.

In the promotional video, Kate speaks on why she loves the clothes she reps so much:

"You don't have to be a size 2, or even a size 4, to be able to wear these garments...They fall so well and are cut for women with a shape. And of course I love that...That's me all over."

We definitely won't argue with that.

Winslet, 36, has always been a staunch advocate for natural beauty. Last year, she formed something called the "British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League"; we're not sure exactly what that entails, but it definitely sounds like something we could get on board with. And, she swore up and down after her fall ads for St. John Knits were released that she wasn't "a model," but we beg to differ.

Check out the gorgeous ads, and watch the video with Kate, below.

Kate tiene esa belleza inglesa natural, su manera de conducirse espontánea me encanta, es esa clase de mujer que inspira a toda mujer que la conoce.
Gracias Kate!

I think Kate is a natural beauty, and I appreciate her acting and her attitude about most things, but oh how I wish there was not a sentence from her mouth that includes "...or even a size 4...". Honestly, those of us who are taller, broader/larger-boned (and yes, that really IS a thing), or carrying enough weight on us that we actually have curves that suit us are not remotely likely to even flirt with 4, 6, 8, or 10.

I wish I knew how to design fashions, because it is just about pathetic going into any given store (or shopping online), finding something absolutely adorable, then having that familiar wash of disappointment come over me as I realize that "adorable" doesn't come in my size, and in its place hangs something with a horizontal stripe that is cut less “wow” and more moo-moo-esque.

What makes a woman sexy has klittle to do with her size and everything to do with her attitude. Marylin Monroe, Liz Taylor, Sophia Loren, Mae West and Jane Russell were not skinny but possessed sexiness in spades. Kate Winslet is sexy, a beauty and a fine actress. I would cast her to play Lz anytime they want to shoot her bio.

She was so beautiful in "Titanic" with the long red hair and lovely 1912 dresses.

I actually like her looks so much better when she's got another 20-25 pounds on her.

I'd care more if she said you don't have to be a size 8. Even a size 8 is tiny.
03:24 PM on 01/19/2012
Right? That would have been better.....You don't have to be a size 16 would have been even better for me. Like at 5 "9, 180 pounds a 16 is nice, I'd have to say so myself.

Yup, even a size 8 is unrealistic for most (including me!).

Both salubrious and lugubrious concurrently.

I couldn't help but notice the prominent 'emaciated look' cheekbones and jaw line. Her photos belie her words. She was made up / photographed / photoshopped to look about as skinny as a 36 year old should look and still be considered healthy. We've all seen her a good fifteen pounds heavier than she's being pictured here.

THIS is what a woman selling clothing should look like, not a pouting 21 year-old stick on a runway.  :)

I'd look and feel like death at a size 2 or 4. Healthy is far sexier than deathly thin.

We don't? Phew, what a relief!

Tonight, for the first time in decades, women all over the world can sleep easily, knowing that their perfect bodies are just a photoshop away. Thanks, Kate.

Those are horrible pictures. Bad makeup, bad airbrushing, bad photoshopping.
