Nikki Haley's Endorsement Helps Mitt Romney Little In South Carolina

Oldendick is not alone among political observers to largely dismiss the relevance of political endorsements, even as candidates love to tout winning the support of various elected officials come election-time.

"There was a lot of speculation about what her endorsement would mean for any candidate, even before she was elected," Winthrop University Political Science Professor Aldolphus Belk Jr. said.

However, Belk adds, that while Haley's endorsement of Romney may help him pull in a few more votes in South Carolina, the effect will be minimal.

I am very surprised that Mrs. Haley would endorse MR. I believe that her thinking goes hand in hand with those of Gingrich but I guess that MR having endorse her election as Gov. might put the pressure. In any case it would be inconceivable for South Carolina to elect M.R. in the primaries.

It would so contradictory for Carolinians to vote for M.R. who stands are SO against nationalizing illegal immigrants who have been here for generations...(interesting S.Carolina Gov.. is a descendant of illegal immigrants). His stands are unclear when it comes to issues of tax and pro life. He belongs to a faith group which believes in polygamy even if he does not practice it. I have difficulty understanding that INTELLIGENT, WELL INFORMED Carolinians would not use common sense and NOT vote M.R.

Anything goes to make a dollar is NOT Capitalism. Under your strict definition drug dealers are Capitalists like Mitt Romney.The drug dealer or corporate raider are both wrong. Newt Gingrich have a right and obligation to attack these forms of Capitalism. The business venture was three separate parameters is it moral, ethical, or legal. The drug dealer is immoral and illegal. Mitt Romney is immoral and unethical. Mitt Romney is not and NEVER was in business to create jobs and never will be. Mitt Romney wants to make money and any human cost incurred is inconsequential. To the point Mitt Romney's claims of job creation are simply not true because he never created any net jobs here. Mitt Romney out sourced jobs to China and Mexico. Mitt Romney has cost US jobs. Mitt Romney is a proven Liar that is the definition of what a flip-flopper is.

Her maturity and lack of experience is showing. Being governor doesn't mean that you are the boss. It doesn't mean that you are a player or wheeler dealer. It doesn't mean that you are a power broker. And it doesn't mean that you can implement and fulfill your own personal agenda. You are elected by the people to do the peoples' work.

Nikki Haley has failed in all of these areas. She has no clue of what her position and responsibilities mean. So she will be surprised when she realizes that she has no influence over or respect from the citizens of South Carolina.

Only Haley is convinced about the importance and relevance of her endorsement. Between the bad decisions she has made as governor and going against her supporters in endorsing Romney, she will have almost no influence in this election. She may also have kissed her own political career goodbye.

She is little more than an ornament or accessory.

If I were given to conspiracy theories, I'd say that Haley's endorsement came at the behest of baggerz or other social conservatives, who realized that endorsing Mitt would backfire wih the conservative primary voers of SC.

Nikki Haley endorsed Mitt because he endorsed her during her gubernatorial campaign--which means a whole lot more. Nikki Haley also wants to be seen as backing a winner and being a good Republican Party stalwart. Nikki is not going to make waves if she doesn't need to.
