Open Eye Gallery Exhibits Congo Photographs With Infrared Film

LOOK: War-Torn Congo Captured In Infrared

The grass is pink, the uniforms are a dark lavender and the trees are crimson in Congo, at least as shown in Richard Mosse's bright photos. Mosse, represented by Jack Shainman Gallery in New York, used Kodak Aerochrome, a color infrared film, to snap these shots in Congo. The false-color reversal film is generally used for aerial photography and camouflage detection. In these photos, the shocking colors stand in stark contrast to the war-torn background.

Mosse's 'Infra' series will be shown at the Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool from March 10 to June 10, 2012.
