Rick Santorum's Big Coal Buddies

Posted: 01/11/2012 10:05 am

Mother Jones:

Rick Santorum likes to brag about how he helped a poor local company fight big, bad government regulations on greenhouse gas emissions. "My grandfather was a coal miner," Santorum said at a debate in New Hampshire this week. "So I contacted a local coal company from my area. I said, look, I want to join you in that fight. I want to work together with you."

Oy.
All you can say about Rick Santorum…. Oy.
Coal. Oy. Coal waste. Oy. Mercury , heavy metals, and radionuclides in coal ash waste and in exhaust from coal plants. Oy. Future generations stuck with minding coal ash waste until the end of time. Oy. Coal the worst carbon source on the planet as regards global warming. Oy, oy. Unsafe conditions for coal miners. Oy. No foresight to try to get alternative energy jobs for miners. Oy, oy, oy. Future generations stuck with a munged up climate from coal gas emissions. Oyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

If you want future generations starving due to overpopulation and loss of agricultural land and water, voter for Rick Santorum. The candidate for the short sighted, fearful, and superstitious.
Sponsored by short term I-Me-Mind interests everywhere…..

Who was Santorum's grandfather, really?

"On the campaign trail, Santorum often touts his grandfather’s flight from Italy “to escape fascism,” but he has neglected to publicly mention their close ties with the Italian Communist Party. “Rick’s grandfather Pietro was a liberal man and he understood right away what was happening in Italy,” Mrs. Santorum told Oggi. “He was anti-fascist to the extreme, and the political climate in 1925 was stifling so he left for America. After a few years he returned to Italy with his wife and children, including Aldo, Rick’s father, who passed away late last year. It’s a shame he won’t have the joy to see his son’s success in his bid for the White House.” She goes on to explain how the family then became pillars of the Communist Party in Italy."

Being labeled a conservative pays better. It's a better gig. Coal companies don't lard on the bucks for liberals. Reagan knew that, too.

Rick can lie about the coal company because the camera and the media questioning him have the same IQ.

“I keep hearing about the story he told about his grandfather and it makes me sick that this hypocrite would so dishonor his grandfather. My dad, grandfather, and uncles worked in the coal mines under the company store management and it was not a joke, nor a time when workers were not viewed as anything but slaves. The Tennessee Ernie Ford song about sixteen tons was the truth of the matter and for the most part is still true today for our mine workers.
Yet this grandson supports the corporations that kept his grandfather down and aids them in their attempt to do the same to all of us. Support for this vile grandson is done so with ignorance or a similar moral compass.
My dad made it out of the mines after a cave in and three days in the dark not knowing if he would survive by joining the Army Air Core just prior to WWII my grandfather died of black lung as a result of his sacrifice to his family but neither would have ever supported those who cheer for their oppressors.”

If Ricky's grandfather knoew what his grandson was up to these days, he would kill him, before Ricky could kill other miners with his desire to get rid of OSHA and mining regulations.

mining is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world and that's with some regulations, anyone who honestly believes that theyneed to have less regulation needs to go work in a mine themself
