'Supernatural' Exclusive Sneak Peek: Dean Time Travels To Shoot It Up With 1940s Mobsters (EXCLUSIVE)

Supernatural Time After Time
"Supernatural" time travels to the '40s in "Time After Time"

No show does time-travel quite like "Supernatural." Some of The CW drama's most memorable episodes have taken place in the Old West, the post-apocalyptic future and the paisley-print '70s. So it's no surprise that the cult hit is heading back to the past for a romp with the mobsters of the '40s in this week's episode (Fri., Jan. 13, 9 p.m. EST on The CW).

Following a showdown with the God of Time (played by "Veronica Mars" alum Jason Dohring), Dean finds himself zapped back to 1944, where he has an unexpected run-in with legendary federal agent Eliot Ness (Nicholas Lea), who is the founder of The Untouchables and a guy who knows how to pull off a fedora.

Meanwhile, Sam is stuck in the present day, frantically searching for a way to retrieve his brother -- who looks like he's having far too much fun wielding a Tommy gun and sweeping through smoky alleys in a trenchcoat -- when he has an unexpected encounter with "an old friend."

Needless to say, we're all aflutter at the concept, which is why we have an exclusive first look promo for the episode -- 60 glorious seconds of the atmospheric, gun-toting, film-noir goodness that should satisfy all your Sam and Dean cravings, at least until the episode airs. Remember to wipe the drool from your keyboard before you type us your comments!

"Supernatural" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.

Haven't enjoyed S6 and S7 as much as S1-5, but this sounds fun.

Both salubrious and lugubrious concurrently.

I can't say I 'like' the show but its earned my grudging respect. The writers have apparently come to conclusion that the premise allows them to *go anywhere and do anything*. I recall they did one episode as a TV sitcom complete with cheesy sets, broad comic acting and laugh tracks.

The only non news/sports show that I watch

I have been addicted to Supernatural for 7 years. Can't wait to see Jensen in another time travel show. I loved the western one last year. They looked great in western wear. I can't help it. I am a crazed fan of this show.

Supernatural won in the SciFi/whatever (I can't remember) category last night on the People's Choice Awards. I watched the whole boring thing waiting to see if they won. Instead of announcing it and seeing them come up on stage, they just said "By the way, Supernatural won in tha category. I voted at least 50 times. Like I said, I am a die hard fan.

It's been on that long?

Yes, they run them all every morning from 10 to 12 on TNT if you want to see them from the beginning. Right now they are running last season. At 2 a day, they should be starting over in a little over 2 weeks.

Why, because I like the show? Or, because a TV program is the high point of my Friday evenings? ...lol

I'm just SO happy to see Jason Dohring and Nicholas Lea. Dohring was great on Moonlight (a show cancelled way too soon...Alex whatshisname was also good...maybe they could cancel 5'0 and bring Moonlight back?) But, I digress.

An awesome show w/two awesome guest stars...I'm turning into an incoherent teenager (no offense young people!)

I used to like Supernatural back when the writers actually took the show seriously and regarded its audience with more than a modicum of respect. Now it's just gotten silly. :\

1944? Wouldn't be more like 1934, or earlier?

Yes. In the early 40's, most of the Mob was co-op'ed into helping the war effort in various different ways, many (but not all) of their members were drafted, and while there was still lots of crime...it was nothing vs. the pre or post war years in scope.
