A whole article on why Apple bought Anobit, and not one mention of patents. There's a whole consortium of flash memory manufacturers including Intel, Micron, and Sony that are working on a common flash controller specification, and Samsung (the world's largest flash producer) is off doing their own thing. That's the key. With Anobit, Apple acquires more patents to use against Samsung.
