Well when you camp out for months, make a bunch of food and turn the ground into a sewer you're going to get rats...

Removing the occupiers fixes the squatter rat problem. Whoever imagined that rats would figure out how to put up tents and build unsanctioned structures. Too bad the DC tax payers will be hit with the bill. Thanks Occupy DC

The Mayor is right. The park needs to be cleaned up for the disease that rats can carry. Also the park belongs to all citizens, not a bunch of homeless and protesters.

Ironically, if Gray had cared so much about the rat infestation before this happened, they wouldn't be needing the rat infestation cleaning now.

So my question is - is there a rat infestation, or are you going to try to pull a New York by saying that that particular park, which has never been cleaned on any sort of a real regular basis or value of quality, all of a sudden needs to be cleaned - oh and everyone has to leave for that, even if they're actually helping clean up.

No there is a rat infestation, one walks on four legs by the other walks upright pretending they represent 99% of the people. They do not.

While I don't disagree with cleaning up the park, I challenge you to remember that homeless and protesters are citizens as well...

DC provides temporary housing for the homeless. These protesters are destroying the parks that DC tax payers paid to have renovated. millions of dollars has alreayd been lost due to the destructive nature of these protesters. Want to protest, get a permit, clean up after yourself and stop causing decent businesses to lose money.
