Scott Walker Billboard Removed In Wisconsin After Controversy (PHOTO)

Walker Billboard

A poorly-placed billboard touting Gov. Scott Walker's (R-Wisc.) job creation record has been removed, Wisconsin Radio Network reported Thursday.

The billboard, which featured a picture of Walker next to the text "Creating Jobs for Wisconsin," was placed in front of a General Motors factory in Janesville, Wisconsin that shuttered in 2008. Thousands of workers at the factory and GM suppliers lost their jobs when the 86-year-old factory closed, and the ripple effects were estimated to cost a total of 10,000 jobs in the area.

Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, an influential corporate lobbying group, paid for the advertisement, along with several other billboards in Rock County. However, according to the Wisconsin Radio Network, the billboard company that owns the space chose the location of this particular sign. The company removed the sign within 24 hours, after pictures of the billboard began appearing on local blogs.

The sign blunder is not the only mishap plaguing Walker, who faces a possible recall election. Last week, a Walker appointee and former aide were arrested on felony embezzlement charges. The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation centering on individuals who served under Walker's time as as Milwaukee County executive.

Walker has additional accomplishments to highlight. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which opposed Walker's collective bargaining reforms, recently noted, "The governor did balance the budget … he did reduce the structural deficit significantly; he did put a lid on property tax increases; he did give schools and municipalities more control over their budgets than they've had in years." Walker has done more to reduce jobs for Wisconsin and lower wages and earning power than anyone could have possibly imagined. How is that "trickle down" GOP economics working for you?

Recall Walker or continue to go downhill. Your choice

Walker has been traveling creating jobs. His privitization policies are working for job growth. Walker no bid no oversite contract has created 127 jobs in Arizona and 32 jobs in Colorado. It only cost 105 Wisconsin employees their jobs. Walker claims it will start to show a saving within five years. Now he is working on jobs in Thialand. I can only wonder how many jobs he will create there?

Well remove Create and replace with Goods and Wisconsin replace with Walker then you get He doing good jobs get rid of American worker.

Liberals and democrats have issues with the truth being put on billboards.

in 2010 a man bought space on a billboard and posted a sign that said

Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican.

While true, liberals just can't stand to hear it. Democrats own the black vote, like property.

They get very upset at simple truths.
10:36 AM on 01/15/2012
Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated before Nixon changed the party's direction with his racist 'Southern Strategy.' All of the civil rights leaders broke with the Republicans over that. In the 1960s, even conservatives recognized rights as an issue, and Everett Dirksen sponsored the Civil Rights Act of 1965 that so many of your party have worked to tear down.

Simple truths? Walker has caused job losses to increase in Wisconsin, and Wisconsin has half of the National average of job growth and half of the drop in unemployment. Simple truth is, Obama has been twice as successful in creating jobs, and Walker's Wisconsin is falling behind the rest of the country.

Total nonsense from you. MLK was not a republican. His own son said so.

I have had the opportunity to talk, in depth, to about 20 people about the WIsc election over the past month.

Many have some bizarre views of what is going on.

Many believe that if petition is successful that Walker is no longer governor. Not true.

Many didn't know that there would be a new election in May or June determined by Wisc law.

Walker is the GOP candidate . No one knows who the other candidates will be.

Walker continues to build a campaign war chest ( thanks to re-call fanatics )

Almost no one could name a Governor who had been recalled.

The liberals on H P are not bad people , they are mis-informed and have been duped by big labor.

It will be sad to see their hopes and dreams crushed, but it is for their own good,.

How many jobs in Wisconsin is Walker creating while he's campaigning in Texas?

This is possibly the most symbolic event that could represent Walker's time as Guv. What jobs are you talking about Mr. Governor? The only new jobs are for lobbyists and cronies. The recall election cannot happen soon enough. I don't care if the opposition is a flag pole (e.g., nobody) - can't be worse! Take the Fitzhooligans with you.

I have a very hard time understanding how ANYONE could approve of Walker and his corruption. The only thing I can think is that those who defend this criminal must, themselves, have larceny in their hearts. Ditto for anyone who defends ANY Republican.
03:29 PM on 01/15/2012
what corruption ?

What crime has he committed ?

So Walker is a criminal, and you know this how? What has he done that would be a crime? Throwing out undocumented claims is useless without the facts to support the claim.

You do not need proof. You just need to make the claim.

That is fact enough.

They should have just replaced the word "creating" with KILLING...and left it stand right where it was. That would have been a very powerful and ACCURATE statment of the performance of this Governor. His staff is stealing money now, and he's definitely under investigation for financial misappropriation and corruption. Smart thing for Walker to do would be to resign quietly, that would allow Wisconsin to try and dig out and try to get some jobs back into the state economy. He's a job killer, and the proof is in the defecit......Wisconsin is WORSE off, both financially, educationally, and economically since Mr. Walker took office.

"They should have just replaced the word "creating" with KILLING...and left it stand right where it was.".....with a picture of Democrat Jim Doyle, one of the worst Governors Wisconsin has ever had. Those GM jobs were lost on his watch, not that the unions want facts. They would rather have laid off thousands than lose their ability to reach into public worker's pocketbooks and grease the palms of democrats.
