'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson': Hugh Laurie Performs 'Unchain My Heart' (VIDEO)

Hugh Laurie Sings And Plays Piano On Ferguson

Most American fans know Hugh Laurie only as the curmudgeonly Dr. House on the long-running Fox series "House." But Britons know him as a versatile and brilliant comic actor as well, and a consummate musician. He tickled the ivories for "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (Weeknights, 12:37 a.m. EST on CBS) and sang a very bluesy rendition of Ray Charles' "Unchain My Heart."

With "House" ratings on the decline and the future of the series looking uncertain, Laurie has been expanding and exploring his other interests. He released the blues album "Let Them Talk," featuring some great collaborations with the likes of Tom Jones and Irma Thomas, though it does not include the track he performed here.

The album has performed very well since its April 18, 2011 release, peaking at #2 and going Gold in the UK. So while American audiences are getting used to this more diverse side of Laurie (the album peaked at #16 on US charts so far), he's got a proven fan-base abroad and a pretty well-established foundation to build a larger music career should he decide to.

"House" returns Monday, January 23 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox. "The Late Late Show" airs weeknights at 12:37 a.m. EST on CBS.
